Who you got as the sleeper in the South?
Villanova has been playing well, they could advance far, but they have a tough first-round game against Clemson and then a possible second-rounder against Vanderbilt.
That USC vs. Kansas State winner could be somebody to watch too.

Has to be Kansas St. Only a 3 hour drive from Manhattan, KS to Omaha. KSU could be effectively, playing home games against USC and Wisconsin. If Georgetown is going to get through their portion, they need to slog it out against a tough Davidson team. It could quite easily be a 10 and 11 seed going to Detroit here.
Nova is also a sleeper, but only because Vandy is such a streaky team. Which Shan Foster and A.J. Ogilvy will decide to show up. If the good ones show up, Nova will get rocked. Then again, Clemson is a strong team, and if Nova's freshmen can't complement Scottie Reynolds, they don't have a chance against Clemson.

I don't think USC or KSU will make it past the 2nd round. I do think that Davidson, UNLV, Kent State, and Gonzaga could make some noise in the tourney, unfortunately they are all playing each other in the 1st round...

Clemson will destroy Villanova and prove VT shoul've been in instead of the Cats. LOL, Nova fans. Prepare for Oglesby and Rivers.

Davidson is my sleeper because if they get on hot shooting, they will be hard to stop. They also have been battle tested during the season. I like the top 4 seeds in the Midwest making it to the Sweet 16 still. I like Wisconsin's experience against the youth of K-State and USC.

Davidson and Clemson.
Two best sleepers in the entire tourney. Davidson has a big guard, Richards, who led the country at 8.0 APG and of course they have Stephen Curry who is probably one of the top three scoring guards in the enitre country. Any team that can hang within six points of Duke, UNC, and UCLA is legit. Do not be suprised if this time beats Georgetown because, as they say, guards win games in the postseason and Hibbert is just soft for the Hoyas.
Clemson is also a very good team that will give Kansas all that they can handle. Mays and Booker are tremendous on the frontline. If Rivers and Hammonds get hot in the tournament do not be suprised to see this team in the Elite 8.

I'm also going with Clemson and Davidson. Oglesby and Curry are both hot shooters. These two teams could each pull of an upset.

As for a sleeper team, I agree with Clemson being one. They came on strong in the ACC tournament. They beat Duke and then they hung around with UNC.
As possible upset, Siena over Vanderbilt. Yes you look at the difference of conferences and how weak one is compared to the other. Siena does have a lack of legitimate opponent. But Vandy didnt capitalized down the stretch losing twice to Arkansas in two weeks, lost to Kentucky in the beginning of conference play when UK was on the edge of a melt down, and didnt make it to the SEC finals. The Committee might have been a little generous to give them a 4 seed. Vandy might overlook Siena who did win against Stanford. Player comparison Vandy has the edge but Siena does have 3 players also that average 15+ pts. There's always an upset and from the Midwest this is the best one because Davidson and Villanova could have been higher ranked seeds, Fullerton doesnt have a chance.

I am a Villanova fan but will be the first to admit that they aren't as good as Clemson...But if they shoot like they did against Syracuse they will be tough to beat, no matter who they're playing

Kansas should watch out for there 2nd round game. UNLV is going to Walk over Kent, and asumming Kansas wins, they could giving them some trouble. UNLV is a team of streaks and if they are on, they can cause some damage. Look at last years tourney they advanced to the sweet 16. LOOK out for the REBELS. U-N-L-V go fight win.

The rebels lost some talent since upseting Butchless Wisconsin in year's second round. Kansas is better now than Wisconsin was last year even with Butch and UNLV is a bit worse, so Kansas should roll as long as they don't letdown.

i am a huge ksu fan...and i have to agree with you on this. everyone will have their eyes on beasley and mayo but they will overlook the rest of the ksu team.this will essentially be a home game and i expect pullen, sutton, and stewart to step up and play an outstanding game alongside beasley and walker. if ksu get past usc, they will have a tough game against wisconsin, but honestly i dont know if they could beat them. it will come down to the momentum ksu gets off the crowd!

I haven't heard any talk of Pittsburgh to the Final 4 from the South. They are a tough out regardless of where they are playing (Note their record at Madison Square Garden). This matches up well against Memphis, and can cause trouble for Texas even though they would be playing in Houston.
I also would agree that Clemson can make a run, and to also watch Baylor. They have a pretty easy way to the Sweet 16 with Purdue not having a true identity as a team, and Xavier not totally healthy.

I absolutely agree that Vandy had better be weary of Siena! THis is an upset waiting to happen. Vandy is only good when playing at Vandy. Everywhere else they are a very suspect team. Siena will run the entire game and I am not sure that Vandy can keep up.

Davidson is a big sleeper, and its good to see that other poeple think the same. But everybody is talking about Steph and J-Rich, but the other thing that wins games in march (besides guards) is coaching. If any of you have have to chance to meet Bob McKillop, or even watch one of this games, you can see that he is one of the premier coaches in NCAA, despite the fact that he coaches at a mid-major. If Thomas Sander, Boris Meno, and Andrew Lovedale can hold their own with Hibbert and Ewing Jr. inside, its quite possible that the Georgetown guards could get outplayed, and even John Thompson III gets outcoached and David | |
