This is by far the toughest region...it almost seems they wanted to stack the deck against UNC, but I think they will prevail and wreak havoc in the Final Four. If UNC doesn't get anyone injured in the early games...they have the talent and coach to take it all and bring another National Championship trophy back home to the Dean Dome.
GO HEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch out for Harmeling and Forrest off the bench for Washington State while they play in Denver. Both guys are from Colorado and Harmeling is just rounding into form with a lot to prove. When healthy he's a plus 40% from beyond 20 feet. He could hit four or five or more. Forrest is deadly at 15-18 feet. Wazzu does not score a lot, so their high percentages will count for a lot vs. Winthrop and, if they make it that far, against ND. Expect a collapse against UNC once they hit Charlotte, though WSU is a very tough road team.

The east bracket is clearly the toughest bracket of them all. UNC and Tennesse will face each other in the finals of this bracket. Bulter is always a tough team. Oklahoma is playing some good basketball right now. George Mason will be the team to watch in this bracket. In the first round the toughes game to pick is Indiana vs Arkansas. Indiana is going thru some drama with finding a new coach. I dont think that will slow them down. No one will beat UNC. They will win the whole thing!!!!

Well it will take a lot of defense to come out of this region, but also being able to score -- so you really have to be pretty good at both. Looking at efficiency standings these are where they stand.
NC is rated at #20 -- Louisville is #5, Wash St is #17, Winthrop is #23, Ok is #25, IN is #31, TN is #34, Arkansas is #35, Butler is #59, ND is #61, St Joe's is #99, S. Ala is #102, GM is #123, Boise St is #173, American is #234.
But we all know that means you have to be at least playing your good game -- not off in any area. And if the other team is really on in an area, such as bombing away from 3s, you better have a back up plan.
Don't anyone overlook ND and think you are going to outrun them or outshoot them. If they are in a good shooting night you are in trouble. And just shutting down Harangody won't matter a ton because they have lots of guys who can nail that ball from 25+ feet.
Personally I think NC gets out -- I was really hoping they would be in another bracket so the only way we would see them would be in the final four -- then if we had to play and lost, it was still a good run. This is way too early to have to see them in their home turf. Heck our first 2 rounds bother me -- we usually die by the 3s in the tourney -- unless our guys get their acts together and bomb them in too. Our guards haven't hit anything in the last 2 games so either they are long overdue or it's going to be a long painful game this week.

Louisville is the best team in the region. they are Big East tough, they press,
they love good low post play, and can shoot the three.
The only way NC can beat them is if the Ref's & CBS want's them to win.

Oklahoma is one I can't figure...they win @ WVU and ARK, but lose by ~20 points 3-4 times...I'm a St. Joe's alum, and am really not sure whether we can win the game or not...almost feel like it's whoever shows up that day and decides to play as St. Joe's has been anything but consistent this year also...
I think if IU beats ARK, they are a hard match-up for UNC in the 2nd round. My opinion, neither UNC or TENN make it out of this region, but after that I'm not sure who as all the top 4 seeds are so good, and so is Butler...

I live in indiana, so I know quite a bit about the teams in this bracket. I don't understand how Butler could possibly be ranked in the top 10 and be given a 7 seed in the tournament. Not only that, but they play South Alabama in Birmingham. IU deserves the 8 see they received, Notre Dame could have been given a higher seed, but I like the matchup with George Mason. Don't really care about Purdue, but they could have a tough matchup against Scott Drew, and Butler.
