I know it is early, but I just wonder what the home team the home team thinks coming into spring ball.

What? Oklahoma and Boise St. will have a rematch next year? OU is Oklahoma. UO or U of O is Oregon. Just givin' you some crap.
I really haven't researched Boise St.'s team for next year, they did lose their RB Johnson, so that should hurt their offense some. Obviously Oregon lost their starting QB and RB, but I think Jeremiah will be a great spread RB next year. As to our QB...I have no idea. I think the system works nicely, and whoever gets in there will have a few games under his belt before Boise St.
Plus it's at Autzen. So I have to give Oregon a clear advantage--their defense will be outstanding next year--and the offense always finds a way to score.
Still, much can happen, it's a long way off.

Should be a good game, but I think Oklahoma, I mean Oregon will pull it out. Playing at Autzen is like playing on Boise's Smurf Turf, it's a tough place for visiting teams to play.

With Ian Johnson leaving, I don't think there's a sliver of hope for Boise State to pull one out. And at Autzen, you would have to be crazy to pick Boise State to win. But you are right, much can happen. I just don't see it happening!
I'll pick Oregon by 20+

Not to nitpick or anything but Ian Johnson is not leaving, he will be there in autzen busting out 150+ yds.

Oh, he decided to stay? Thanks for the correction. I thought for sure he'd be gone! That was my lack of research.
Even with Ian Johnson, I can't see BSU making a game of this one. They were exposed by a speedy ECU in their bowl game last year and Oregon is an even faster team. We defintely won't have a Chris Johnson type with 4.24 speed, but the team speed will be more than BSU will see all season. I'm looking forward to this game though. I'm still a little heated from Boise State's 42 unanswered against Oregon State in '06, haha.

Looking forward to the game...hoping for a real fun road trip. Hey Oregon fans...are there any killer mom and pop restaurants or other must see shops or places locally that you recommend visiting?

I think the Boise St. game should be a good one. The Ducks will have new players in the offense...most notably a new QB (TBD) and Jeremiah Johnson at RB. I also hear some of the recruited RBs are going to be awesome. I'm looking for a shootout, kind of like the game versus Houston was last year...until the Ducks pull away.
The Ducks should win by about 17 at Autzen!

I am really looking forward to this game, I used to live in Eugene (13th and Alder) and have family over there still. For years we have gone back and forth on who is better. They root for the broncos and we root for the YUCKS, they went up to corvallis with us for the OSU game. As far as the YUCKS steam rolling the BRONCOS it wont happen, it should be a good game with the Broncos pulling it out in the end. BroncoFan2x check out Fins Drive-in in springfield(try not to spend to much time in springtucky for your own safety) on main street they make killer hamburgers such as the bel air, the eldorado, the impala, whenever i get back to lane county that is my first stop, also try track town pizza(located by the UofO campus) they are really good.

BSU does not have the size or spead to hang with U of O. The team that beat Okie in the BCS bowl was great, one of the best games in CFB history. But a mid major playing a top tier BCS team that will only happen once every ten years. Hence did you see Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl, or how did you like Athens GA? I mean no disrespect, but the Ducks have 15 starters returning and are bigger and faster, but most of all the game is in Autzen. Sorry BSU but in 09 you get us on the smurf field, then I would say anything goes.

I wouldn't be so hasty to call Oregon a "top tier BCS program" yet, but they're not far off. Bellotti has had Oregon ranked at one point of every season for the past 10 years or so. They boast one of the nations most rabid fan bases, have one of the premier stadiums and gameday environments in college football, and have facilities that would make most NFL teams jealous. They've frequented the top 10 and also have a couple 10-win seasons under their belt. If not for a few heartbreaking injuries and some snubbings, there could also be a few more BCS visits and possibly a national championship under their belt.
While Oregon's not there yet, it's only a matter of time.
But back to the Boise State vs Oregon game. What players does BSU have returning that makes you think the Broncos can compete with Oregon? They only scored 10 points against a very mediocre Washington team that Oregon put up 55 on. And it's at Autzen. Only another Fiesta Bowl miracle can save BSU in this game.

I guess it comes down to definition of "Top Teir BCS Program" If you believe Georgia is a Top Tiered team then you would have to put Oregon in that class. We all know Oregon finished 2nd in 2001 and was ranked 2nd in 2007. If the injury bug doesn't appear I think they are polishing a trophy. Yes it can happen just like OSU baseball. According to College Football Datawarehouse the Ducks are ranked 11th this decade. The Ducks have beat USC 5 of the last 8 times they have played. They have swept Michigan, the last time they played Texas they won, the last time they played Oklahoma (Uhem let me clear the throat) they won. The point is they are competing and beating top teired teams. USC has become a machine the past 5 years and no one and I mean no one would be winning the conference with them at their current state. Therefore making it harder for the Ducks to get into BCS bowls. Maybe my definition is a looser than yours as top teir BCS programs go - but I put them with the Georgia, Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia Tech stable. Maybe I am a homer but stats back up my thought.

Thanks, yeah it was a roller coaster ride a season. Lots of "what ifs" and "maybes". Thanks for the respects. And so you know I have the utmost respect for the BSU program. These past few years have been amazing for you guys!
For the China thing, I agree. It would have been nice to be the first two college football programs to play a g | |
