I've been watching closely by reason of owning Ian Stewart for 3 years as a minor league keeper. Nyx continues to do as expected with the glove, and Stewart is starting to do fairly well with the bat...more-so yesterday. I think they are still neck-and-neck with the rest on the outside looking in. Here's something unrelated that my come into play for Stewart: Chris Ianetta is having a great spring after batting too close to the Mendoza line last year. If they keep him for his offense, and the rest of the Rocks are still cranking, does Hurdle take Nyx's glove over Stewart's bat? I recall Tulo stating he liked Nyx as his dp mate.

Right on man, thanks! Yeah it would make sense if Ianetta was hot enough to bat 7, then we could swing in a smooth defender at 2nd to bat 8th. Thanks again

Stewart really hasnt recieved a fair shot in game action, that combined with the decision to not extend Atkins, gives me the feeling the Stewart will be on the hot corner sooner rather then later.

I wouldn't count out Jeff Baker. He's had a big bat this spring and many opportunities. Isn't it great that this is the worst of the Rocks preseason issues?!

Clint Barmes is the way to go. Everyone talks about prospects, how about him? He was the starter at SS in the Triple A All-Star game last season. Anyone remember 2005 when Clint was the leading candidate for ROY and was hitting near .400 in May when he broke his collarbone? I beleive he would be the solid choice at 2B, but what do i know, Im a Cubs fan.
And also, I may be a little biased because I grew up with Clint. He played on my older brother's (by 2 years) little league, and high school teams. He is also a great athlete. Originally signed with Southern Indiana and Bruce Pearl to play basketball but decided to take up baseball and transferred to ISU. Hes a great kid (speaking of kid hes only 28-29 years old). He would be a good replacement while the other guys get ready for the bigs.

I just read a report that the Rox have decided to go with Nix. He seemed to be the favorite for most of Spring Training, so this makes it official. He has done well defensively and has even been a bit of a surprise with the bat. He has been hitting right around .300 lately. It doesn't hurt that Tulo is comfortable with him. Let's hope the farm system can keep cranking these guys out. If they do the Rockies will be in the hunt for years to come.

Well they are stacked in the farm. With Joe Koshansky, Seth Smith Ian Stewart Chris Iannetta, Chris Nelson, Brian Rike, Darin Holcomb and not to forget Greg Reynolds. They are not lacking at all. Now if we can get all this talent some playing time. I think that Koshansky and Iannetta would be great in the big’s right now. But we will all see in time.
