"i love how delusionaly postitve the oregon state fans are.  talking about their players like they actually belong in a bcs conference.  the program is wretched and will continue to be wretched and outrecruited by every school in the region.   i hope for their sake that gonzaga doesn't develop a football program. one more school to compete with in the northwest might force the beavers to fold up."

I have no idea what the heck just happened, so first apology for the mega-posts...

PaternoPower is the one who wrote my duplicate post quote.  I'm not delusionaly positive.  Considering that we have had a awesome bowl game record over the past decade, ended USC's recording breaking winning streak, have superstars currently playing in the NFL that have come out of OS, I don't see why you can call us "pitiful."  Don't see how we talk about "players like they actually belong in a bcs conference" unless you are referring to the fact that we currently have top players in several positions in the NFL still currently playing?

So, PaternoPower, you sir are an idiot.

I'm glad your other school's fans have completely sold you out, as you seem to need it.  Your thriving on trying to get a rise out of people is "pitiful," the way in which you present yourself is "pitiful" and your coming to a OS website post forum to put down a team that you don't even consider to be in the same universe as your own is just down right pathetic.

Next time have something intelligent to say, otherwise go back to reading Mein Kampf or whatever intolerant work you enjoy, and post on sites about the Nazis or KKK where your level of intelligence and human understanding is appreciated.

Now that tha's over with, I'm really looking forward to that game.  No matter what happens, it'll be fun to see the Beaves play a big team from another conference.

Not to be negative, but this is kind of the same situation three years ago, when Matt Moore got the starting job at quarterback. We played Portland State, then Boise State, then Loouisville, AT Louisville, and got blown out there. We need to be careful of not making key mistakes, and we can't get blown out by about 40 points, and that's not going to happen.

I see this thread has been dead for a while, so my post may be a waste, but that has not stopped me before :)

For full disclosure, I am a Penn State fan, and season ticket holder.  I'm glad to see OSU on the schedule (that usually means Ohio State University to us, but I'm sure you all know what I mean :).  I'm looking forward to a PAC-10 team coming to State College.  While we have added Syracuse to the schedule, I'm glad to see another "real" out of conference team on the Nittany Lions schedule.  I respect the PAC-10, and have enjoyed a Civil War game or two on TV.

By the time I read this thread, the offending posts by a person claiming to be a Penn State fan have been deleted.  However, from some of the existing posts, I get the feel of what was posted, and I would like to say not all, nor even any, PSU fans feel like what I believe was said.  The problem with online stuff, is people can claim to be anything.  My guess is this guy is a fake.

I'm looking forward to this game.  I am impressed with some of your posts, you have some real fans!  See you in a few months.

Thanks, the PSU game is one of the most anticipated games for me in a while out of conference (prob since we played LSU down in Baton Rouge several years back actually).  Will be great playing with your program.  I've heard a few things about off the field things that might hurt your team a little, and our team is looking forward to a good test and learning experience on the field for so many of our new starters.

I hope its going to be a good game, I still put PSU at a plus, but I'm chomping at the bit for how this game will go.

I have rarely seen PSU play before, but obviously your school has quite a football tradition.  Good luck this season...hopefully both of our teams will learn some things in this game and take that into our conference games.

We have had our fair share of off season problems, and I doubt if anyone is sure how that will affect the team.  Over all though, I'm looking forward to the season, and I think the Beavers will be a good early season challenge to see where we stand.  Our out of conference games this year are Coastal Carolina, Temple, Syracuse and Oregon State.  I think the game against the Beavers is the most interesting, and the biggest test.

Welcome Havoc.  I'm always up for rejuvinating a post.  I'm excited about the PSU game.  I'd like to see OS pick up a Big 10/SEC/Big12 game every year.  Oregon State has risen from the ashes since the turn of the century and needs to play big schools to take that next step.

This should be a great match up.  With Penn's off season problems and the Beaver's losses to graduation this could be a defining game for both teams.  I think if it's a close tough game both teams win regardless of the scoreboard.

I think it would help the national profile of the Beavers if they had more "traditional" football teams on the schedule.  I agree the Oregon State has had some good teams over the past years, but you really don't hear about them on the national stage.  Off the top of my head, it seems only USC and UCLA are traditional teams they play.  Adding teams in the east would be a good way of raising your profile.  PSU probably fits the bill, even though we are not as consistently good as we were in the past.  Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, or many of the Florida teams, to name a few, would get the spot light on you a little more.

As I've stated before, I'm looking forward to this game, and I'm glad to see a PAC-10 team on the schedule. I don't remember a PAC-10 team on the schedule since USC around the late 90's or early 2000's.

That's due to the East Coast bias.  Check the Pac-10 bowl game record to get an idea of how we do against teams from other parts of the nation.  I can't remember what place we were in this last year, but we had 6 teams go to bowls, and were 4-2 in our record.  We are more often winning more bowls than we lose.  As far as national exposure is conerned OS beat ND in a BCS game handing the Irish one of their greatest losses ever.  We also took LSU into overtime in 2002 or 03 at LSU when we were not even nationally ranked and LSU was ranked #2 in the nation.  Our kicker missed 3 extra points that day and a chip shot field goal, and we lost in OT against a SEC powerhouse away by only one score.

It doesn't really matter who we play, because aside from the one, maybe two teams that we might play back east, you guys never decide to watch our games when we start playing each other.  I mean, come on....are you really going to start watching a OS game against ASU when it starts at 9:00 pm for you?  However I get to watch PSU play some other east coast team at 1:00 pm...hey what else am I doing on a lazy Saturday afternoon aside from watching that game?

There is no way to beat the time difference, so we as a conference will just have to keep beating more teams than we lose to in bowl games.  Then its always funny when the east coast media is "shocked" or calls it an "upset" when that happens.
