Bill King was the best, Krukow and Jon Miller are by far the worst. Why does ESPN have that buffoon Miller on at all, he is terrible, mumbles half the time, tries to be funny but isn't.
Vin Scully is probably the best but age is starting to wear on him, not as good as he used to be, but still far better than most.
Local TV announcers for the D-backs are terrible, worst of all on the MLB package.
Agree with Berman and ESPN hacks, they are lousy.
I was just a little lad, when Dizzy Dean did network telecasts, he was a classic.

WHAT??? I CANNOT stand him at times. It seems as if he has a copy of the NBA rulebook in front of him at all times. I remember the 2006 NBA Finals, in every game, he had to point out a seemingly obvious rule.
And also, what are ABC/ESPN trying to do to them? Is it just me or is it that they are trying to recreate what NBC had with Marv Albert, Mike Fratello, and Magic Johnson?

Curt Gowdy was one of the best ever . Don Meredith was excellent on MNF with Gifford and Howard Cosell.
Bob Trumpy and Don Criqui were awful. Keith Jackson -FUMBLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLee was a homer.
Ray Scott was also a very good announcer. Berman makes a farce of the game.

I cannot believe that you say that Jerry "The King" Lawler is annoying. He is very entertaining to listen to. Along with JR, they really make a good team.

Any worst of list for announcers has to start with Joe Buck...the guy is a no talent hack. He can thank his father for his career because it is the only reason he has one.
Another hack that feeds off the legend of his family is Chip Carey...can someone explain to me why this guy is working the World Series? Were all of the intelligent announcers unavailable in late October?
A guy who is very intelligent, but is just an atrocious play-by-play guy is Bryant Gumbel. I respect the job he does on Real Sports, but he needs to get dropped by the NFL Network (and the NFL Network would be wise to drop his dopey partner Collinsworth in the process).
The last guy that comes to mind is Dick Vitale...he has to learn that we are tooning in to watch NCAA games and not the "Dickie V Show." This guy is more familiar with the word massacre than Gen. Custer in his time as a college basketball announcer. Dick...do us all a favor and let the game breathe!

Worst-Hands down Ron Santo. If anyone has listened to him, they no doubt agree he's the worst. Half the time he doesn't even know the situation or who's batting/pitching.
Best-Pat Hughes. Anyone that can put up with Santo gets the best in my book. There's a reason he takes an inning off. You can only put up with Santo for so long.

I do like JR and Jerry "The King" (Grant it what they cover is mostly scripted.) I love it when JR says that someone is being "whipped like a government mule," or "running like a scalded dog." "For the love of God, or BAH GAWD!!! are also great sayings. For Jerry "The King," there is only one, PUPPIES!!!

I've got to go old school on some of my favorite sportscasters. In their prime, these would have been tough teams to beat:
Pro Football - Although it's hard to beat Pat Summerall and John Madden during their days at CBS, I've always been partial to Summerall with Tom Brookshier because I heard them together first. I also liked Charlie Jones over on NBC, who was usually teamed with Bob Trumpy (but periodically filled in for Dick Enberg and worked with Merlin Olsen).
I know there are a lot of Joe Buck bashers out there, but he's not half bad, although I think Troy Aikman has turned into a fine analyst. I have to give worst to Don Criqui, only because he would start rattling off closing credits during the opening drive of the game AND because he's deathly dull.
College Football - Brett Musburger always sounds like he's in command, and I love to hear him call a game, regardless of who his analyst is. Tim Brandt, who has called games on ABC and for Raycom for many years, gets my worst here. He knows his stuff and is probably a great guy, but there's something about his voice that gets me.
Pro Basketball - Take me back to the days of Dick Stockton and Tom Heinsohn on CBS, with Brett Musburger doing the pre-game and halftime. And give me Marv Albert and The Czar of the Telestrator, Mike Fratello, from NBC any day over the boys at ABC/ESPN. Don't take me back to any time Bill Walton is doing a game. I happen to like Walton; I met him once and he is really a class guy. But he never knows what side of the street he's on.
College Basketball - Among the best on the national level are Gary Bender, Mike Patrick, and Kevin Harlan. The late Jim Thacker, who was sports director for many years at WBTV in Charlotte, and Billy Packer were great calling ACC games for C.D. Chesley in this neck of the woods.
Again, poor Tim Brandt gets my worst. The man's good at what he does, but his voice irritates me.
Baseball - From the days of yore, the teams of Vin Scully & Joe Garagiola and Bob Costas & Tony Kubeck were top shelf. Stashed in the basement somewhere should be Jack Buck and Tim McCarver, because they both stunk.
Hockey - Since I've only heard a few team call hockey, I'm going with the team of Gary Thorne, Bill Clement and Darren Pang. Thorne is a good all-around broadcaster who can call a number of different events with alacrity.

Not sure I have ever heard a more biased announcer who DID NOT know when to shut up than Bill Walton. Especially during NCAA tournament when Luke was at AZ. I have to love a 6'11 former player who constantly complains about how easy the 7 footers have it these days. Ask Shaq if Walton is unbiased.

Mario Impemba and Rod Allen are good for the Tigers on TV.
Wish I could say the same for the radio. Dan Dickerson is good, but Jim Price is awful.

Theismann...best thing that ever happened to him, was done by the original LT.
McCarver...just simply a jackass
Bayless....not really an announcer, but someone should whack him just for the hell of it
Kornheiser...or is that cornholer, either way..go away already
Simms....just talks way to much, makes madden look like a mime at times
I did used to like Madden, at one time. The sport has just outgrown and passed him by. Whats he going to talk about, now that Favre retired?
Chris Schenkel(sp), was one of my favorites as was Myron Cope. He had a voice all of his own.
The old crew from MNF was good, I turn the sound off now, and turn the radio on. I can not stand any of them.
Berman needs to retire, his day is past.
Chris Rose is also pretty good.
Those are just a few I can think of, off the top of my head.
Just my humble opinion.
