I am a college football junkie, so I need to understand more about this team. I read about coach Dodge's recruiting class, and said to myself, "coaching a university in Texas should make recruiting a breeze, and allow you to be a contender every year". It just seems to me that with the tremendous amount of talent in Texas prep football, it shouldn't be too hard to convince a bunch of these kids to stay at home and play! Being an Iowa fan, I see us recruit heavilly in Texas, and alot of our talent is derived from there. Is there a reason nobody before Coach Dodge was able to tap into this talent pool? Seems to me that it should have been a no-brainer. I'm looking foreward to hearing your thoughts on this, and good luck Mean Green!

Yes, there is a huge talent base in Texas, but it is hard to convince prospects to play for an average team in the Sun Belt versus playing for a Big XII team.  Our previous coach had an old-school grind-it-out style of play that didn't attract many prospects.  Coach Dodge has brought a new system that players want to play in, and he is an offensive guru that players (and coaches) want to learn from.  I'm hoping we can put together a team that can run with the big boys in 2-3 years.
