The recent trade of Dwayne Robertson for a bag of balls and a used Kleenex made me decide to write this for all of the die-hard Jets fans out there.

If you are a Jets fan, you will want to throw up after reminiscing with me.
If you are not a Jet's fan, prepare to have yourself a good hearty laugh at our expense.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Here is my ode to former Jets GM Terry Bradway - the worst GM in the history of the Jets.
I do not believe he made a single move that helped the jets, outside of one or two late round draft picks - most likely by sheer luck.

Former NY Jets GM Terry Bradway inherited a play-off team that Parcells essentially built. Here is what he did for the team.

They say that you can really only grade a draft 5 years later.
So I ask you all this: What grade is lower than an F? looking back 5 years to the 2003 draft, it has to be graded an F-Minus.

Bradway's 2003 draft:
Trade (2) first rounders (numbers 14 & 22 respectively) to move up and draft Dwayne Robertson 4th overall.
Then he drafted: Drafted LB Victor Hobson,  FB BJ Askew,  DB Derek Pagel,  QB Brooks Bollinger,  DL Matt Walters, and a OT that I do not even think made the team.
Of those 7 guys, not one is still on the team just 5 seasons later. NOT ONE.

Next year when we grade the 2004 draft - it ain't looking good for that grade either. His 2004 draft was 10 players deep:
LB Jonathan Vilma,  CB Derrick Strait,  WR Jericho Cotchery,  T Adrian Jones,  S Erik Coleman,  T Marko Cavka,  LB Darrell McClover,  RB Derrick Ward,  DE Trevor Johnson,  DB Rashad Washington.
JUST 4 SEASONS LATER - Only (1) of these (10) guys drafted is still on the team - 4th round pick WR Jerricho Cotchery.

Two drafts in the past 5 years that went 17 players deep and we have just one guy left.

In 2005 he traded his First Round pick for TE Doug Jolley - who was cut one season later. He then drafted a PK in Round 2.

Jets fans everwhere are throwing up on their computers.

Think of all that Terry Bradway did for the team outside of the draft.

He let guys like RB LaMont Jordan, OG Randy Thomas, OG Ryan Young, OT Jason Fabini,  and WR Laveranues Coles walk away (even though the Jets eventually traded to get Coles back)

His free agent signings, guys like WR Justin McCariens, WR Curtis Conway, S Sam Garnes, and  Damien Robinson - they all sucked.

How this team ever went anywhere was predicated on the play of guys Parcells drafted and brought in. Vinny, Curtis, Ellis, Abraham, Coles, Chad...

Here's to you Terry.
The worst GM Ever!!!!!

thats pretty terrible, but i think the Dolphins, not counting last draft, didnt have a player left on their team that had been in their previous 10 drafts.

regardless, i feel the pain.

Yes I must say that your GM Terry Bradway is a pretty bad GM but he is not the worst ever that title will have too and will always go to Matt Millen of the Detroit Lions. At least when your GM screws up bad enough they will let him go and get someone eles in there to replace him... but if you have ever checked the Lions record under Millen .... and it is not pretty, you would think this man should of been fired many of times but NO he gets contract extension after contract extension.... the worst he screws up the more he gets.

&nbs p; So I do feel a little sorry for your Jets fans (ohh and you did sign Damien Woody from the Lions for way too much ...good luck with him) but just realize that if your season is not a successful one you will have a new GM in the next year or two... where as the Lions fans must suffer for many years with the same stinkin GM no matter how bad his record is year in and year out.

True, as a Jets hater, I loved your post.  I would love to laugh at you, unfortunately, I am a Falcons fan and have NO room to laugh at anyone.  Here's to the future and it being much brighter than the past!!

Jets fan here.

Wow, we've been a busy team this off-season, but none of the new additions have really got me excited.  Sure, it's nice to get Alan Faneca to help out the O-line, but he's not worth 7.75 million a year.  The loss of Vilma will be tough to overcome, but Robertson wasn't anything to brag about.

What we need are two playmakers: a good quarterback and a running back who will consistently rush for over 1000 yards a season.

I just hope Bradway doesn't give up his #6 pick; I'd love to see McFadden drop there so we could snag him.  It likely won't happen, but I can be hopeful.  Shoot, my whole life being Jets fan is based on being hopeful, hahaha.

Well it sounds like that Robertson wanted too much of a contract so the Bengals pulled back and nixed the trade. Now the Jets will cut him before June and his $3 million roster bonus hits and the Jet will get nothing for him. Would you rather have 2 picks or cut the guy?

Robertson was terrible anyway.  I'm glad I don't have to watch him get his fat ass kicked around anymore.

He might be.  The problem is that it takes multiple successful years in the draft and FA to build, and the Jets have had a hard time keeping/developing any of the talent.  There is some blame to go to the coaches though since Mangini and crew have had the chance to make these moves look better and they have underperformed on that side too.

With all that being said though, I think I have to agree with the Matt Millen argument.  He actually had a ton of talent on that team and let it implode.

actually that trade was cut short to Cincinnati.  He wouldnt redo his contract so the Bengals brass put it on hold.  I dont blame either side for that (18 mil for underachievement?)  We just let Justin Smith walk because of that, so I wish we could have got him but im glad we didnt overspend.

At least you have a GM. The Bengals GM is thier owner and his daughter and his son in law. Too frickin cheap to hire a gm and the scouting department is half the size of any other NFL team. How the NFL allows this is beyond me....Ohhh thats right the team is raking in the greenbacks.

A former Lions fan here.  Matt Millen is the worst GM not only in football, but in the history of sports.

I agree that Bradway is horrible. You could throw darts at a draft board and come up with much better picks than he has ever made. His trades for Justin McCareins and Doug Jolley rank among the dumbest NFL trades of all time.

That said, I like the signings of Faneca, Pace, and Woody. Granted the Jets overpaid but the beauty(?) of the NFL is that contracts are not worth the paper they are written on. It is unlikely that any of these guys will play out their contracts without renegotiating or getting cut.

Faneca and Woody can help turn an area of desperate need into an area of strength when paired with D'Brick and Mangold. Everyone talks about how horrible this Jets team is but they are only 1 year removed from going 10-6 and making the playoffs (the Giants won the Super Bowl this year with a 10-6 record). This year was a disaster mainly because the OL collapsed without Kendall. With the potential for a top flight OL, the running game should be solid with or without McFadden and Pennington and the high percentage passing game should return to form (if Clemens doesn't beat him out).

If McFadden is gone at #6 and we end up with someone like Gholston to pair with Pace, Harris, Ellis, Jenkins, et. al. we might actually have a pass rush for the first time since the NY Sack Exchange. We also have at least two potential Pro Bowlers in the secondary (Rhodes, Revis).

So there is reason to have hope, at least until the season starts...

Bro - the last two seasons were good -
But Bradway has not been the GM the last two seasons. THAT IS WHY the draft and moves made seem better.

You don't know how good you have it Jets fan.

Mike Brown of the Bengals is the worst GM of all time. You might have me on a technicality, because he refuses to hire a GM.

I will gladly take on all arguments that say otherwise. Please keep in mind: We've had one playoff appearance in the past 17 years.

XScumbags, you obviously are a great student of football and a true knowledgeable Jets fan.  And I agree with most of what you said except that you left out a few players:  (1) Nick Mangold(C) who had a great rookie year should prove to be your center for a long while,  (2)
