The Eagles should wait on trading Lito Sheppard until the draft. If Darren McFadden drops to New England at #7 or even to Oakland at #4, trade Lito and pick #19 for their pick as to select McFadden.
Why trade for McFadden:
- He's an absolute stud and a weapon that Philly needs and players have asked for
- With him in the backfield, Westbrook could line up at WR at times improving the WR corps that everyone complains about. Imagine the slants and screens...
- McFadden returned kicks at Arkansas. He would improve our terrible return game.
- With McFadden, Philly could afford to put Westbrook on punt returns. Every team fears him when he returns punts. He is electric there.
- Added depth at RB would help especially since Westbrook and McFadden are completely different types of backs. Look how the Pats (Maroney & Faulk) and Giants (Jacobs & Bradshaw) succeeded with 2 good but different RB's.
So the Eagles would add RB depth and versatility, improve the WR look at times, improve the return games, and cause tons of match-up problems. McFadden is special and good enough to have that type of effect on this team.
Let me know your thoughts...

I don't think you want know my thoughts dude. We have Brian Westbrook and even thought he is a good reciever along with a great running back, I would not want to make him angry with getting another RB. If we did your fantasy trade to get McFadden, we would be in trouble.

Don't get me wrong, I love Westbrook. But even he said the Eagles need more weapons. McFadden is a weapon as is Westbrook. All these posts around here are talking about getting 2nd rate WR's or rookie WR's to solve our problems. That won't work. Westbrook is the best pass catching RB in the league, and he could be set out wide in a 3 WR set with McFadden still in the backfield and L.J. at TE. Westbrook wants to win, so I think he would give up a few carries to go out wide to cause the matchups that could lead to wins.
And don't forget that Westbrook could have an issue with his rather small contract if he has another big year. I'd hate to see him take off, and McFadden would give us leverage and a plan in case that would happen.

McFadden won't drop to #7, and if he does fall to #4, why would Al Davis want to trade that away??? There's tons of other players they could take in that spot, and they aren't exactly dying at CB right now. McFadden returned a couple kicks at Arkansas, but it was mostly Felix Jones duty. I don't think this is a reasonable idea, and the Eagles have more pressing needs than RB right now.

I would like to see the Eagles invest in a guy like limas sweed malcolm kelly or james hardy in the first round. They would be blossuming when the kolb era rolls around which will be imperative for sucess. I agree about the impact thing the WR would be limited roll but if we draft Chris Johnson in the second or third round i think we make out better. He was a tweener in college and tied for the fastest 40 ever ( or close) so you know he was the catching ability running ability and blazing speed which is a nice thing in our offense. Im pretty sure Wr and OT are adressed first day in the draft.
By the way does anyone know what Reggie Brown gets paid? if its over 3.5 mil i think he should be traded or atleast see what he can do this year and if he doesnt step up trade his ass. Curtis is a great reciever and if he can get a tall athletic counter part on the opposite side the offense will be more sucessful.

In all likelihood, this is McNabb's last year in Philly before we pretty much rebuild with an inexperienced QB in Kolb. The best way to rebuild but still win is to have a stellar running game. Westbrook does well, but Buck and Hunt do not satisfy the need we have at short yardage situations. McFadden is too good to pass up on.
Are we guaranteed to get something out of these rookie WR's? They are no sure thing, but McFadden is. I've been watching him tear up the best conference in college football for the last 3 years even with a subpar O-line.
By the way, Oakland is looking to trade down and just re-signed Fargas to a deal. They would be interested in putting a player like Lito opposite of the franchised Asomugha.

I like the thought of trying to trade up but Andy Reid and his team are not usually that aggressive when it comes to the draft. Also, they have several other holes I'd rather seem them fill (i.e. WR, Safety) But let's be honest, you know the Eagles will draft OL in the first round.
Having Lito right now is a huge bargaing chip. If we could get a WR of the caliber of Fitzgerald or possible Harrison, I say pull the trigger.

Trade lito for a high 2nd round pick or late 1st if possible and draft best WR avalible and spend our 19 pick on oline. I think we shold still draft a CB 3rd round, we will still needa nickle CB if litos gone.
