Found this article on the Des Moines Register this a.m. This sheds some additional light on these kids....namely, that both are complete idiots (used their own addresses for shipping shoes using a stolen card) and that Douglas is not only a criminal, he's also a RAT for trying to tell the cops Cleveland had access to his email (which is a lie).

Hats and shoes......jeeeezus.

Iowa City, Ia. — Former Iowa wide receiver Dominique Douglas and current football player Anthony Bowman attempted to go on a $2,000 spending spree for hats and shoes last May with credit cards stolen from the rooms of two Iowa students who lived in the same dormitory as the athletes, newly released court records show.

Douglas and Bowman, both 19, pleaded guilty in December to aggravated misdemeanors for credit card theft and received deferred judgments as part of plea agreements.

Search warrant documents recently unsealed and obtained by The Des Moines Register from the Johnson County Courthouse indicated the credit cards, belonging to students Abraham Tekippe and Michael Nelson, were used after the students reported their wallets stolen from N115 Hillcrest and C128 Hillcrest, respectively.

The new documents are the first public reports on the source of the credit cards and how police indicate they were obtained.

Douglas, who led Iowa with 49 catches for 654 yards as a true freshman two seasons ago, announced Dec. 17 he was transferring from the university. Bowman remains at Iowa, according to online student registration records, but is not listed on the football team's roster.

Douglas and Bowman were suspended by coach Kirk Ferentz after their arrests.

Alton Poole, an officer for U of I campus police, provided a narrative of the crime in an affidavit used to justify the issuance of a search warrant for Bowman, Douglas and their possessions last August. Bowman and Douglas were roommates at the time in C102 Hillcrest, records show.

The warrant also authorized a search of a storage facility shared by Douglas, Bowman and James Lee Cleveland.

Cleveland, Iowa's second-leading receiver last season, was arrested last Saturday on two counts of unlawful possession of prescription drugs and a felony count of failure to possess a drug tax stamp.

Poole said in a statement that Tekippe contacted police May 8 after finding that an Apple IPod and his wallet had been stolen sometime between 4 and 8 p.m.

Tekippe later reported that by 8:30 a.m. the next day, more than $2,000 worth of transactions had been attempted on his credit cards. Among the attempted purchases were baseball caps and a pair of $490 shoes, with Bowman's dorm room listed as the shipping address.

Most of the purchases were denied on the basis of the credit cards being listed as stolen.

Tekippe also reported the purchases had taken place over the Internet and two orders had been placed with Sneakerhead.com for Bowman and Douglas, using Bowman's e-mail address.

Poole said police located the user names and physical locations of the computers used to make the purchases, indicating one was located in the Gerdin Athletic Learning Center and the other at the Phillips Hall computer lab.

Bowman confessed during questioning to buying the merchandise using the stolen cards despite initially denying it, Poole said. Douglas continued to deny he had participated in the use of the cards and asked to see a lawyer.

Poole said Douglas had listed Cleveland, who is to appear for his preliminary hearing on the drug charges March 14, as having "access to Douglas' user name and password during the time unauthorized purchases were made online."

Good find Clem - just shows though, what the heck are kids thinking these days.  Why would freshman need a storage facility for?  I don't recall ever needed a storage facility in college let alone anytime in my life.

I just don't have that much stuff.  Now I can see if you are building a house and need to go to an apt temporarily so you store it for a while, or maybe you own a business, but a college student?  Insane

I think the only one we would want to keep is the one we have and that is Bowman.  He fessed up, acknowledged he is an idiot, paid his dues and can be given a second chance but should be under probation for the rest of his stay at Iowa.  If he does anything else, bye bye pal.

I just gotta wonder about kids these days...scary to think who will run the country when I am an old geezer.

I don't think you'll have to worry about any of THESE kids running the country any time soon, lol!! The criminals, formerly known as Hawkeye football players, will be lucky to find a halfway decent job without a college degree and a criminal record, ta boot.

Construction workers or, at best, used car salesman.........my guess.
