Toronto trades D Hal Gill to Toronto for a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick.

Which team does this deal favor?

This trade favors the Leafs in a HUGE way.

Not only did the Leafs get a 2nd round pick, but they have finally gotten off of the "Hal Gill actually has something to offer" wagon.  Hal Gill gained notoriety in Boston by being able to "shut down" Jagr back in the late 90's.  But since Jagr became a shell of himself, Hal Gill has become worthless.  So getting a 2nd round pick for him is like the NHL feeling bad for Toronto and just giving them an extra pick for sending him out of Canada.

I agree with "Weygand." In Boston, Gill was a slow footed defenseman who never used his size to his advantage. "Soft" was often the word that described his play here...I doubt he shed that while playing for the Leafs. I have friends who only made it to the high school level and they were turning Gill inside out during summer hockey games. He sucks!
