It was reported in Rivals that he was charged with some sort of inter-state federal offense (i.e: mailing). I don't think it would have been a felony had he just been caught with them in his possession since they are not on the DEA's list of schedule 2 drugs, but I could be wrong about that. Regardless, you're right....it's not a huge blow, especially at QB where we're pretty loaded right now. But our WR corps was already depleted and Cleveland showed some promise last year so that might hurt us. Maybe Ferentz & Co can go out and sign a late-bloomer or a Juco this spring with the extra scholarship. Hopefully they boot him off in enough time to gain that extra position.
I'm normally of the "boys will be boys" mentality when it comes to this stuff. But clearly, Ferentz needs to implement an absolute ZERO POINT ZERO tolerance policy with this team for the forseeable future. Obviously, whatever he's done (or doing) is not the deterrent it needs to be. You get caught drinking - you're off the team, you get caught driving w/out a license - you're off the team, you get a speeding ticket, you're suspended for 3 games......it has to come to this now, unfortunately.
