I'm a big baseball fan from Australia, who is going to Houston to see my first live game in August. I just want some advice. What is the normal accepted etiquette at a game? I've got the Astro's caps, jersey, t-shirts... should I be wearing those to the game? I'm really excited about going to my first game, but I don't want to look or act like an idiot. Any suggestions....
Wear anything and everything you've got, sure. I usually wear an Astros cap and either shirt or jersey at a game. Most fans wear at least one item of Astros gear, I would say, but there are plenty of businessmen in suits sans-jackets at games, too. You won't look like an idiot unless you paint your face or something. An Astros game isn't a football game, so there's no need for that (UNLESS IT'S THE POSTSEASON, of course!). Have fun in August, you'll be thankful for the closed roof!
Which team are the Astros playing for the game you're coming to, BTW?
Get to see the Mets in the beginning of August. Prices of beer and hotdogs, doesn't seem extravagent to someone who is a season ticket holder for a rugby league team. The way the dollar is going, I'm gonna be cleaning out the store. I'll make sure to bring my jersey and cap in any event. I've got my tickets down the 3rd base line, field boxes already.
Astros vs. Mets, awesome. That's my girlfriend's mother's team vs. my team series right there (she's a lifelong Mets fan).
And yeah, I had a feeling with the dollar's strength or rather... lack thereof... you would have no problem buying beer, drinks, food... I hadn't even thought about the store.
Watch out, everyone... the Shed is going to be cleaned out in early August, so... if you need any Astros supplies, make sure to get them before the trade deadline at the end of July! Heh.
