Stoops yes. Livengood no. Everyone has to remember that UofA athletics as a whole is elite. Up there with the best of the nation. Just because football is so dominant everyone thinks that UofA athletics is struggling but the truth is Stoops is struggling. Fire Stoops, not Livengood. I still think Stoops was a good choice... but this will be his last if we don't win at least 7 games.

Yes, Arizona Athletics is elite as a whole. But not for long. The way I see it, the athletic director should be able to find and hire coaches that he believes will continue the success of a program, or jump start the program. Livengood has only hired 2 head coaches for major sports(baseball, softball, m/w Basketball, Football) during his tenure, all the other coaches were already in place, and Arizona Athletics was elite when Livengood was brought on as the AD. The two coaches that our "Great" Athletic Director has hired are Mackovic, and Stoops, Two of the worst coaches ever to set foot on the campus of the University of Arizona . Then there is the situation with men’s basketball, naming KO as Lute’s successor BIG mistake, KO is not proven as a head coach, I know that livengood only did it to give “stability” to the program for recruits, but Lute is planning to return, he said so when he took the leave of absence, so why jump the gun on naming a successor? He could have waited until Lute said he was going to retire, then search for an elite coach to coach an elite program. This is not Livengood’s first screw up as an AD, when he was at Washington state, he named Bill Doba as head coach, now look were their once dominant football program has ended up under Doba, in the gutter, I believe that’s why they finally fired Doba. Livengood is not a great AD, and should be Fired, along with Stoops!

The WRONG hire was Sonny Dykes. Granted he is a fine OC, but the players were not suited to a spread offense. At the end of '06 the cats were punishing opponents with a fine running game, in turn setting up play action and it was a thing of beauty. Tuitama is obviously not mobile enough to run a spread offense, which is a crappy philosophy anyway...That hire was Stoops' downfall, and if they can't figure out a way to get to a bowl this season then Mike should get the axe...

i would disagree with you that Tuitama isn`t mobile enough to run the spread, last year he had several rushes for first downs, and many other oppourtunities were he could have had a decent gain if he ran for it. the problem is that he has had 3 concusions and is scared to run it because of the fear of being hit. i hope the cats make it to a bowl this year, and ill be at every home game!

I coulnd't agree more with CATS2007. Livengood has done nothing for our athletics except hire two horrible football coaches and ride on Lute's coat tails. He makes one mistake after another and has certainly let it be known that the tail can wag the dog at UA (i.e Lute).
As a die hard UA fan and alum, I hate to say it, but perhaps he needs to take some advice from Lisa Love at ASU (i.e. Erickosn, Sendek)

well, the way I see it, there have been several good and legitimate excuses for lackadaisical performances by the football team.
1) 2006 season, the team goes 6-6 while having tuitama out for several games with a concussion.
2) 2007 season the team goes 5-7 while installing a new spread offense that usually takes two years to get rolling. They had the #1 passing offense in the pac. The way I see it, if the defense ever decided to show up, we may have been in a bowl game.
As a diehard wildcats fan, I look for the best, and this season I can see were we should easily win seven games. Our non-conference schedule is very easy, and we should win all 3 leaving only 4 wins in the pac-10. I can easily see the team winning 7 games. At least I hope they do. It all depend on the defense.
