Tiers work, but it is also important to pick up the player before the year he becomes Tier 1, Ricky Weeks can be that player this year, he could put up stats with Utley this year.
I have had Uggla the last 2 years. Low batting avg can drop him a few tiers in some peoples ratings. But how many homers did he have last year? Exactly. Great for my league scoring system. I love being able to pick that guy up on the cheap. Unfortunatly he has no miggy in the lineup anymore.
Phillips (just had one break out year in a small park and he's a bit older than cano. thats why cano is ahead, he's younger and he's more stable right out of the gate. hence i think his ceiling is a little higher)
Kinsler (young player, hits for power and steals bases. his avg is the only low point)
Uggla (basically an older ian kinsler. avg is a HUGE back breaker on him or i'd have him at number 1 or two)
Wow all these comments are outdated. Uggla is batting .302 so his average is by no means a weakness this season. He is #2 in the majors with 18 homers and is the second best 2nd baseman in my opinion only to Chase Utley. What bothers me is that the second best 2nd baseman is somehow 4th in the national league in the the All-Star voting (according to the Chicago Tribune).
