Booga, the combine is less than a week away,  now this thread will have more relevance.   It is now time to put up, Flacco and Colt have the lead going into the combine.

Everyone that hasn't seen how accurate Colt is will learn real fast.

I hope something happens because Colt is sinking faster than George Bush.

It's called MEDIA BIAS.

At the ASU QB competition he was 1st in accuracy, and you gotta remember that scouts say the most important trait in a QB is accuracy.

2nd in scrambling

and 4th in arm strength tied with John Booty, and 2 yds behind projected # 1 Matt Ryan.

He is bigger than Josh Johnson and Paul Smith. He is now listed as 6.25 207.

He played better competition than Joe Flacco and Josh Johnson.

He played shotgun, Flacco too.

He had a bad Senior Bowl? Flacco and Woodson did worst.

Can't play under Center? Again at the Senior Bowl practices Flacco and Woodson did worst.

THEN WHY is COLT rated # 16 ?????????

Media Bias.

SOME people may be happy at this revelation but hey are they telling the truth about others?

Bigsmall and Sappho, two opposite points there.  So far Colt is proving the doubters wrong at this years combine.  He came in over 205 and he is 100% in the accuracy drills.  Maylock put Colt down all day and Colt put up impressive numbers in all drills.

Maylock has stated that he was wrong about Colt and will reevaluate him.    Colt was not on some people's top five and now he will move back into the top picks after this.  Look for Colt to be drafted high after this showing, his stock just moved up.

Sappho

What's up with you?

Are you one of those guys that love not being told the truth, you love to lie to people?

When I read scout reports I expect honesty, not some personal dislike as in misplaced animosity, just because the guy don't like June Jones or has some kind of grudge why take it out on Colt.

I expected more out of you Sappho, I thought you were better than that, a person who expects quality and not just trash talk from scouts.

What's up with you?

Nothing much.  What's up with you?

Are you one of those guys that love not being told the truth, you love to lie to people?

They're all against you.  The media is trying to decieve you.  The end is near.  JEEESUS!

When I read scout reports I expect honesty, not some personal dislike as in misplaced animosity, just because the guy don't like June Jones or has some kind of grudge why take it out on Colt.

There are his fair share (or more than fair share) of detractors, but it's not as if everyone is against colt and there's some kind of massive conspiracy by the EVIL, LIBERAL, media to bring him down.

That's just crazy talk, willis!

I thought you were better than that, a person who expects quality and not just trash talk from scouts.

Not all the scouts are just going off spouting hate at colt.  In fact, the objections they raise are valid:  arm strength, his percieved fragility, unorthodox throwing motion, level of competition, inflated stats from the system, etc etc.

Me thinks the reason why there's alot more talk about this subject on colt is because he's alot more visible than other "system" quarterbacks.  June Jones did a great job marketing him:  heisman finalist, national records broken, undefeated regular season, etc etc.  So now the focus is on him.  Nobody really knows of what to make of him or how good he is, so people are more critical of him.

To dismiss the negative things the scouts say by going "it's just trash talk from the media, pundits, and biased scouts" is lame.  You can't just dismiss their criticisms with hand waving and playing the "biased media/oppression card".

********

To colt's credit though, after having a bad senior bowl, he really lit it up in the combine, answering alot of his critics.  That's the best way to refute the (valid) criticisms the pundits have.  Not by saying "It's because they're all LIARS and BIASED" (which is very Ann Coulter-ish), but by saying "look, what you're saying is interesting, but this is what colt did at the combine".

Well, for those of us who were hoping to see some Hawaii players from this past year's team make the NFL; there's some fairly good news.  It's good to see that some more of the boys are headed into the NFL.  Depending on how long anyone has been paying attention to Hawaii football; you may or may not remember the years when getting anyone into the NFL was rare occurance.  Here's hopin' that this new "tradition" can be kept going.

For anyone who wants the "details" RE: the combine and how some of Hawaii's players did: here some morsals with websites for "complete?" details.

KITV television in Honolulu:
www.kitv.com/news/15404749/detail.html

"Colt Brennan helped his draft stock on Sunday with his performance at the NFL Combine.
Brennan earned a 100-percent rating in the passing accuracy drill."

-BUT-
He did not participate in running or weight lifting drill...wonder why?
-ALTHOUGH-
Last week, he measured in at 6 feet 2 inches tall and 207 pounds...
Could it be that he put on weight (his low Sugar Bowl weight of 185 due to flu) to “fit the mold” but may have sacrificed speed??
Article also has some positive things to say about Davone Bess and Ryan Grice-Mullin.

USA Today:
www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2008-02-24-combine-sunday-analysis_N.htm
"Colt Brennan was arguably the most impressive quarterback of the day. He was ... ...nearly all of Brennan's passes were being thrown with a chorus of cheers from his fellow quarterbacks and surrounding wide receivers."

And some positve observations about Davone Bess:

"Appalachian State's Dexter Jackson and Hawaii's Davone Bess were every bit as dynamic as DeSean Jackson during wide receiver drills.
Scouts were disappointed to see Bess time in the 4.7s — a number so high even the most ardent of supporters is concerned, but his burst out of his breaks and super-soft hands made him one of the more impressive receivers of the day in drills. During the "gauntlet" drills in which receivers are asked to run horizontally across the field at full speed while six quarterbacks (three on either side) pepper them with passes, Bess was one of the few receivers to easily contort his body and snare each pass. In drills where others struggled, Bess consistently made the difficult appear easy."

The Honolulu Advertiser:
www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article
"The two things that I came here to do were to show up heavier and throw well," Brennan said. "I weighed in a lot heavier than people thought, and I threw the ball really well."

Oh, by the way...

"he had to simulate taking snaps from the center, then retreating in three-, five- and seven-step dropbacks."

Guess he can and WILL adapt as needed...to whatever SYSTEM necessary.
