B&B,
I agree....there are some worthy guys on that list and I have been watching Rivals and Scout to see what is going on...also, considering the lousy season we just endured, I don't think one guy bolted after commiting....of course the LOI is right around the corner but not a bad class along with the many fine redshirtman coming in this year....let's hope Tedford's changes on the coaching staff along with his learning experience will propel the Bears to a new level....God knows they really need to prove themselves more then the overrated team they have been most of the time......we need maturity and leadership this time around

The guy who I'm looking forward to seeing is Marvin Jones. He looks like he could be a Lavelle Hawkins type of player for us. Also I've heard great things about Mark Anthony, he looks like he's pretty aware and solid. For next year I'm really hoping Kevin Riley gets the starting QB job, he performed so much better than Longshore in the Armed Forces Bowl, and Longshore has been absolutely TERRIBLE late in games...lets keep our fingers crossed.

Now I see we have a verbal from CB Josh Hill, a 2 star recruit. A little more depth in the defensive backfield doesn't hurt.

Speaking of updates, I have recently been advised that the Cal boards have not been updated with regard to the condition of Hitman #31, also referred to as Coach and J/p. As most if, not all are aware, he was involved in an extremely sesriuos rollover accident in January of 2007 and has had a multitude of surgeries in the the interim. I have been advised by people close to him that he has not been to the Cal Boards for some time. This message is an attempt to provide you with the reason for that and a current update as to his condition.
Following yet another back surgery or perhaps during that surgery Hitman suffered a stroke that left him partially impaired on the right side and affected his speech. Ths was late last fall .This made it difficult for him to type at the time. He has worked for several months on rehab and while still wheel chair bound his typing was improving dramatically. Any way his internet posting became much reduced.
At this point the details are somewhat unclear to me, but it seems that in conjunction with the stroke certain test were run that disclosed a mass. Of course it was necessary to fully heal from the surgery prior to undertaking the removal of this mass. I do not have any specific information either way but I personally believe that it was considered by the Doctors to be benign. I say this only because of the time that elapsed between discovery and treatment. Again I have no indication either way from any source whatsoever.
That brings us to the current update. Hitman was operated on Wednesday Morning and the Doctors were extremely pleased with the result. Hitman was alert,, aware of his surroundings, speaking without problem and had eliminated a tremor that he had developed after the stroke.
But as many of you know, Hitman likes to add a little drama to everything so his heart decided to stop. and not just once but twice. The Doctors seemed to be baffled. They determined that these "incidents" were not heart attacks as there was no damage to the heart itself. A cardialologist will be conducting additional tests and it was mentioned that a pacemaker may be necessary. In an effort to prevent a further ocurrence, it was decided to reduce the level of sedation. This did have the hoped for effect, but resulted in severe pain causing nausea, That was the status as of approximately Midnight.
As of this precise moment I am still awaiting news of Thursday's examinations and events. which I will likely receive very late this evening or early in the morning. I will do my best to froward additional information as it becomes available to me.
BTW, I noted that Prof Mercury has been absent since early January., If someone would kindly forward this information to him, I would appreciate it.

Today's update has no futher definitive information regarding Hitmn. Tests performed yesterday shed no additional light on the cause for his heart to stop. They are keeping him on a regimen of reduced sedation which is resulting in a relatively high pain level. Further information will be povided as it becomes available.

Hitman's doctors have finally determined the cause of his "incidents".
Blood tests revealed, "a fatal level of Morphine", in his system. It is unclear at this time how this occurred . It is likely that tow separate nurses administered his very high dosage. while in the recovery room and someonme neglected to make the proper notation on his chart.
That's an Issue the Hospital will be working on, but is not now relavant to his recovery
In a nutshell, Coach was overdosed by the hospital staff and the morphine slowed his body to the point it just shut down. Now that they have that answer, they can game plan, make Coach more comfortable, and work on his recovery, and eventually his release!
Should events dictate, I will provide further updates. For now it appears that the patient is on the road to recovery.
