3 teams in the top 10, 4 in the top 25. Hard not to go with the ACC.

I went with the ACC myself, which is hard to do as a Big East fan. I think the Big East has quite a case as well though. The ACC is top-heavy, but the Big East is bottom-weak.
The top 10/top25 argument doesn't support the ACC over the BE, actually..the BE has 2 top 5 and SIX top 25 (SEVEN in the ESPN poll). Both conferences have 1 team in each of the "others receiving votes" sections.
Bottom line though, is that the Big East is huge and its bottom teams are terrible.

The ACC is a very strong conference year in and year out.... (Duke , Maryland and North Carolina)
The Big East has Connecticut (who beat NC) , Syracuse , Rugters , Pittsburgh , WVU , Notre Dame and Depaul.
Just like the Men's basketball Situation the Big East has 16 teams and the ACC has 10 or whatever. It has nothing to do with percentages. All that matters is who gets more into the tourney in March.

My pick would be the BIG 12
They might not have the most Top 25 teams, but they have some great teams in that conferance. You put any of them in the ACC and they would do well. Of all the mid-majors, the Missouri Valley. This conferance isn't talked about near as much as Men's Basketball, but it is a very competitive league every year. I know very well about this league, for my cousin plays for Indiana State and was on the Preseason 1st team. Illinois State is having a great year, and if they don't win the MVC, they should be getting an at-large bid. This conferance is especially crazy during conferance tournaments. The past several years, the host team has won, which twice have been the 8th seed. Interested in seeing how it plays out this year, on a neutral court.

The Big 12. The ACC and the Big East top teams might be the best, but the question is toughest conference, and the Big 12 is loaded top to bottom. 5 Top 25 teams, 4 others receiving votes in the AP, 4 top 25 and 5 others receiving votes in the USAToday poll - and one of the teams is different. There is one poor team in the conference, Missouri, and they own a win over top twenty-five challenger Texas Tech.
Lots of "experts" are saying the Big 12 deserves 9 spots in the tourney.

I am a big east fan, but I gotta agree with the Big 12. That said, anyone feel like UCONN is doing something extraordinary this year? They are running past good teams (stanford, north carolina, notre dame, etc.) with 2 starters gone. They are so deep and so talented that they may upstage the previous championship teams. Biased, yes, but really amazing.

I agree with your statement but the big east is the strongest league with Uconn,Rutgers,Notre Dame,Syracuse, just to name a few and the list goe on from there because this league is also the deepest.

Right now it can't be the SEC - it is probably the ACC in recent years, with Big East right behind them.
SEC has only 2 decent powers in recent years - TN & LSU. TN should have had 2 losses last week - Rutgers got robbed in their loss to TN, from what I could tell. Was actually hoping that TN would (legitimately) win vs. The State Univ. of NJ (I'm from Jersey) so TN wouldn't be out for the kill when LSU played them on TH.
Wondering if LSU can return to Final 4 for 5th straight year in '08, and seal the deal this year. Will be extremely hard to win it all, like in the past - but somebody has to win it all each year.
Should be a good game when CT comes to BR to play Lady Tigers in 8 days - Feb. 25 - on ESPN-2, I think.

Which conference has the most powerful Women's Basketball??????
I chose the Big East, I think UConn and Rutgers are the most powerful Women's Basketball program this year. They both have a very good shot at winning it all, I'm hoping its Rutgers time!

Big East top to bottom is strongest as well as the top 8 teams. Look at their records against top competition. Even the bottom half of the conference all have winning records outside the confrence, and the bottom teams have won against decent teams such as NC State outside of conference. Look for 8 teams in the tourney, with possibly 2 top seeds to come out of the BE. Arguments for the Big 12 fall down based on their performance against top OOC teams in general, easier schedules against OOC teams.

The shame of this is how steep the dropoff is after you get past the Big East, ACC, Big 12, and SEC. When the season began, we already knew that the champ would be from one of those conferences, and even that it would be one of 5 or 6 teams.
The vast majority of women's teams will never get the chance to even compete for a title (or even a tourney berth) and that is sad. For teams in mid-majors, no matter what they do they will always be obscure, hopeless programs. What happened to the idea of Cinderella teams? That everyone had a shot?
Maybe Div. I women's basketball should be reduced to just the power conferences.

Ah the best conference argument. So many different ways to play this. Pick the one that suits your conference the best. I'm a Rutgers fan so the conference with the most teams in the top 4. Wow, what a surprise, it must be the Big East! In fact Rutgers should be No.3 but for Tennessee's clock shenanigans. And they have more first place votes than #2 North Carolina so they should be #2. And if they didn't get their butts kicked by UConn last week, I'd claim they should be #1. Isn't it great to be able to impartially determine things like who the best is, and who the Number 1 team should be? It's a shame we have the NCAA tournament or we could argue this stuff forever like the football fans do.
