On August 30,2008 in Atlanta, Ga. @ 12:00 noon the Clemson Tigers will play host to the Alabama Crimson Tide .

The history between the two teams has Alabama with an 11-3 record and having won the last 11 games from 1909 to 1975. Alabama has out scored the Tigers by 356-122 with the last meeting between the two in Tuscaloosa, AL in 1975 with Alabama winning by the score of 56-0.

While Alabama and Clemson represent two of the most tradition-rich teams in college football one might think that form the history between the two Clemson would have no chance of winning this game.

The Tide finished its 2007 season with a win over Colorado in the PetroSun Independence Bowl and a 7-6 record in Saban’s first year as head coach at the Capstone. Clemson earned a 9-4 mark in 2007, including an overtime loss to Auburn in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta to finish the season.

The game will be hosted and operated by the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, with ticket allotments split between the two schools. Clemson will be the home team at the game, with the Southeastern Conference providing the officiating crew.

Alabama should note that Clemson and Auburn are alot more alike than most people would know. As Auburn fans send Clemson fans well wishes while hoping that Clemson badly beats Alabama. Clemson on the other hand ask the Alabama fans not to hate them to much since Clemson and Auburn have so much in common to include their colors and mascot names.

The 2008 Alabama-Clemson contest is a single-game agreement between the two schools.

The only questions left to ask is will Alabama be a much better team in 2008 than what we saw in 2007 and can Clemson continue being a pretty good team in 2008 after losing so many of their 2007 starting players.

well we aren't losing many starters if anything we are losing less than the usual amount. Right off the top of my head we lose two linebackers two offensive lineman and one defensive lineman five out of 22 isn't bad I think we will be alright

Back to the point. Alabama will be a tough game. As a matter of fact I think it will be our toughest game of the season, with the exception of the ACC championship game and the bowl game.

And is there actually a gamecocker talkin smack about Clemson football? Please stop, you are embarrasing yourself. And Gator fan, I would love to get a chance to put a smack down on you guys next year too. 3-0 against SEC would make for a good season.

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!

Clemson scares me, we still have to get our QB situation right that was the whole problem last season.

Any school that puts TIGER PAWS all the way down the middle of an Interstate scares me.

hmmm...not sure what youre looking at.

6. Clemson (9-4): The offensive backfield is set to return along with a veteran defense. (Mercury News)

#11 Clemson: High (8) Low (20) Average (12.00): The ACC needs a dominant team after an awful bowl season. With Cullen Harper at quarterback this might be their best shot in 2008, but it hinges on winning at Alabama in a high profile early season opener. (Fantasy Players)

10. Clemson (9-4)
With so much talent back on offense and defense, the Tigers can’t come up short in a big situation again. Can they? (Rivals)

9. Clemson Tigers

Tigers coach Tommy Bowden might be poised to win the ACC championship at last. After getting a contract extension, Bowden assembled one of the best recruiting classes in the country. He also persuaded junior tailback James Davis and receiver Aaron Kelly to stay in school. Underrated quarterback Cullen Harper comes back to lead what might be the ACC's best offense (ESPN)

13. Clemson (Fannation.com)

8. Clemson: Best news for Clemson: TB James Davis chose to leave for the NFL. Now, finally, the Tigers can get dynamic TB C.J. Spiller 25 touches a game. Cullen Harper is the nation's most underrated quarterback (Sporting News)

10. Clemson The Tigers finished 2007 strong in the ACC, and it is time Tommy Bowden got some credit. Clemson returns most of its offense with the exception of the line, which needs to be retooled. The Tigers have enough to score points. The defense gets a lift from one of the top defensive prospects in the country, DT DeQuan Bowers, and the rest of a great recruiting class. This is the year Clemson surges to the front of the ACC. (SportProjections.com)

10. Clemson (9-4) If everybody returns, Clemson could win the ACC championship next season. QB Cullen Harper of Alpharetta will be a senior and could have running backs James Davis and C.J.Spiller again. The defense returns nine starters

20. Clemson 2007 Record: 9-4
It's all up to the offensive line that only gets back one starter, C Thomas Austin. QB Cullen Harper is an ultra-accurate passer who gets top targets Aaron Kelly and Tyler Grisham back to light up the ACC, but the real star should be RB C.J. Spiller with James Davis jetting early for the NFL. It would've been nice if DE Phillip Merling returned for his senior year, but as is, eight starters return including everyone in the (Scout.com)

so before you make up statistics, make sure they are beleivable

trying to predict college football seasons before they begin is for the birds. Clemson returns all those starters and might just win out-they might also lose in the Ga dome to 'Bama and implode. Statistics lie. as the saying goes, Thats why they play the game.I think its likely that Clemson will beat the Tide and win at least 10 games. They should also be the Atlantic div. rep in Jacksonville for the championship game. i am not a member of the press so i wont pontificate on the Tigers and their 2008 potential, but man i wish it was August30th in Georgia !!!

Clem1988,do you believe that the tigers can win this seasons opener ? I think that any game can go any way,but i truly think also that 'bama is another season under Saban away from being recognizable as the Tide of old. Clemson, based on last seasons stats and this seasons returnees should be a TD favorite over the Tide. 2-0 vs.the greatest college football conference in the known universe? oh doesnt that sound nice.
