I am a Purple Eagles fan, but out of those two teams, I gotta say UConn. That loss to Rutgers was tough, but they are still the best team. (That's what I think)
To himmel2haus:
You mention only 2 wins for UCONN vs. ranked teams. You somehow overlooked Duke (a 74-48 blowout on a neutral court), #10 Old Dominion (86-43, neutral court), #13 West Virginia (84-48). The ND, Syracuse and Pitt wins came after your post. Also, the Stanford win was on a neutral court (US Virgin Islands, as were the Duke and OD games), not at UCONN. I still don't know why the Duke game is not listed in the Sportsline schedule. The game is listed on both school's sites though and I saw highlights so it did happen. ;) The upcoming game at LSU and the rematch with Rutgers should be exciting (I must add that the end of the Rutgers game @ UT was a shame). ;(
It's great that parity has grown in Womens Basketball and there are now as many as ten teams with a legitimate shoot at the national title this year. Years ago we were lucky to have more than two or three (outside of the very infrequent Cinderella). It should be a very exciting tourney!
According to the above site, the Lady Huskies lead the Lady Vols 13-8 in the overall series, but it says is hasn't been updated since '06 so I think there may be one more loss for the Lady Vols (for a record of 13-9)
And by my count the Lady Vols Record from the 90-91 season through last year is 535-67. Which includes 5 national championships, at least two runner ups, one undefeated season, and several SEC championships.
I don't have the Lady Huskies record, but I'm sure it's very close to the Lady Vols record.
I voted Neither (since I'll be rooting for Old Dominion).
But I think Tennessee has a good shot at winning it all. UConn has a tough bracket, and will have to get past Rutgers who beat them once (of course UConn beat them also). Maryland and UNC are good teams; but Pat Summit always seems to get her teams through.
Uconn. Though if it were the men and Tennessee was playing Uconn I so would be rooting for the Volunteer men! But since this is for women, I am rooting for Uconn women!
Candance Parker is ridiculously good though! I think she could single handedly beat a lot of teams, not uconn though, but she is most likely one of the best ever college women's basketball player!
Uconn all the way!!! Tenn sucks and Pat scummit is a rotten coach who teaches her players to play dirty. They don't play like a team. Uconn plays like a team they win like a team and they lose like a team. Geno is the best coach all around and is a real stand up guy. With 2 players injured they are still ranked # 1. That wouldn't happen with Tennessee. Orange is my least favorite color. I am a true blue die hard huskies fan and that will never change! Wait til next year they will be even better!!!
Wow to say that the BEST coach in all of college basketball is a ROTTEN coach with a DIRTY style of play definately sounds like something a huskies fan would say. Personally, I like the Lady Terps this year, despite my die-hard love for Tennessee.
Orange is my least favorite color.
^^No one cares. My favorite color is green. Anyone else want to share thier favorite color?
No doubt about it,,,,,,UT Vols all the way--again......Pat and our Lady Vols are going to make "Origami" wish he had stayed in Connecticut and Kept HIS BIG MOUTH SHUT FOR ONCE IN HIS LIFE......PAT IS A "CLASS ACT" AND he CAN'T HOLD A CANDLE TO HER.......(also, remember, HE has to face VIVIAN, AGAIN!!!!) Any bets on how that's gonna turn out? Hope she and her girls wipe up the floor with the Huskies.....ALL VOL LIZZIE
