This is kind of old news as GSP has said before that he wants the MW belt once he wins the WW belt but he said it before Serra whupped him. But he never mentioned the part about moving up to LHW
quote from his manager --> "He wants to leave a legacy...He wants to be the most dominant fighter the UFC and MMA has ever seen, and he intends to accomplish that by dominating the 170-pound weight class, moving up to the 185 weight class and then eventually the light heavyweight class."
i've said this before but i'd love to GSP vs Silva but GSP vs Hendo would be awesome as well especially since GSP totally destroys guys with amateur wrestling backgrounds.
GSP vs tito? GSP vs Chuck? GSP vs Wandy? GSP vs Franklin?
I would love to see GSP defend his belt at 170 a few times and then mocve to 185. I think the 185 division is weak overall and i would love to see a fight with GSP v. Andersen Silva. That would be great but i dont see it happening within the next 12 months. He could do well at 185 but a move to 205 could be a real challenge for him. But he is athletic and smart so he could eventually do well there. He is just so far ahead of the competition at 170, a move up would be great.
What are you smoking crack? You really think GSP would eat his words if he moved to the weakest division in all of MMA. You say most of them would beat him back to 170, Who? who is at 185 that would beat GSP back down to 170? The answer is nobody. I would say that right now P4P in the world he and Silva are #1 & #2, with GSP being #1, and I gaurantee if GSP went up to 185 right now he would demolish Silva. I think moving to 205 would be a real challenge, but he would still be capable of doing good but that is just a very deep division. 185 however is not that big of a jump for him because he is a huge 170lber to begin with and he would stomp anyone that division has to offer. Bottom line is that wether you like him or not GSP is the best fighter in the world right now and will probably end up as the best of all time when his career is all said and done. The only guy out there that has the talent to compete with GSP is BJ, but that is only if he actually shows up in shape and shows up in the right mind to fight, which we all know is an uncertainty when he fights. Beyond that unless some miracle like GSP vs. Serra happens again( which always can in MMA, which is what makes it great) GSP is unmatched by anyone and if youdon't beleive that then you are an idiot.
The only IDIOT on this message board is the one that said this. "I gaurantee if GSP went up to 185 right now he would demolish Silva". I think thats the single most retarded statement I have read in years. But I'm sure that you know more than all of the top MMA publications right............................Sherdog is the largest American website devoted to the sport of mixed martial arts. As of January 9, 2008 Sherdog ranks Silva as the top pound for pound fighter in the world ahead of Quinton Jackson, Fedor Emelianenko and your beloved GSP. Lay off the crack and dont post crap with out "FACTS" to back it up..........................you MOMO.
Exactly what do you mean by having "FACTS" to back it up? This is my opinion, which unless these guys have actually fought is all anyone can have, even the leading MMA publication. What facts are behind Sherdog's rankings? The answer would be none. Those rankings are simply that publications opinion and they are entitled to that as am I. So since you are so high on "FACTS" and my comment is the single most retarded statement you have heard in years, tell me what "FACTS" do you have to support that I am wrong? Let me answer for you, NONE! Because these guys have never fought so there is no facts to support what the outcome would be if they did. So realize just because some one posts thier opinion doesn't mean they think they know more then all the top MMA publications, but then again who's to say they don't? Because until fights actually happen any speculation whether it comes from so called "EXPERTS" or not is simply opinion, but hey if you let MMA publications make your opinion for you then that is your problem and if that is the case you really must be extremely simple minded and really not that big of an MMA fan to begin with. So maybe you should lay off the crack and quit posting garbage. Or try formulating your own opinion for once, you might actually like it.
Well, I personnally do not like GSP, and I do think that he is overrated in a sense. He did beat Matt Hughes, but I really do not think he beat the Matt Hughes of old. Hughes has not been the same for a while and it is about that time for him to retire and become a teacher of the sport. I do not care what people say, Matt Serra put a beating on GSP, and you may say that he got lucky, but I think that Serra is that good. GSP was ready for that fight, and he is the kind of guy that always trains and is ready to go at a moments notice and the better man beat him that night. If GSP moves up in weight class there is a very good chance that he will lose again. Do not get me wrong, GSP has improved his wretstling skills and he took both Josh and Hughes down with ease, but if he were to take on Sylva he will be in a totally different match. Russwtsn80 has some kind of love thing going with GSP and he is all over him thinking he is the cats meow, but I have news, if he stays at his present weight class Serra will come back and beat him.
Interesting. So because I recognize a great fighter when I see one that makes it a love thing, huh? Or maybe you are just sour because you are a Hughes fan who was in love with him and was crushed when Hughes got embarrassed by GSP, TWICE! For you to sit there and say Serra is just that good is moronic and tells me you really know nothing about MMA at all. Let me just tell you that some one that is "Just That Good" to beat GSP as you claim Serra to be, they wouldn't have lost to Shonie Carter and with a spinning back fist of all things. I will agree that I'm not saying Serra got lucky and the best man did win, but the best man that particular night. 99 out of 100 times GSP wins that fight and you and Serra will find that out the hard way in the rematch. And if you really think that Serra will win again without some sort of miracle then you must be as dumb as you sound and might want to think about taking up a new sport to watch, because in all honesty you sound like a true MMA poser(You Know What That Means).
