Don't get me wrong.  I'm not an SEC hater, and I do have respect for the conference, but, although the SEC has one six bowl games, they haven't been impressive.  Arkansas was destroyed by Mizzou, Florida was beaten by Michigan, and no SEC team has beaten their opponent by more than 7 points with the exception of Georgia.  Georgia is as good as anyone in the country.  I am not so sure LSU can handle Ohio State.  I think the top 3 or 4 teams in the BCS conferences are pretty even.  The reason I say the SEC has not been so impressive is because they are constantly touted by the media as the most powerful conference in America.  This particular year, the Big 12 has looked much better in the bowls.  Texas destroyed Arizona State, Mizzou destroyed Arkansas, Kansas looked very good against Virginia Tech, and Texas Tech had their usual Miraculous finish to beat Virginia.  Oklahoma State battered Indiana pretty badly.  The only team in the Big 12 who really brain farted was Oklahoma (who always forgets to get ready for the bowls).  But even the brain fart of the Okies was overshadowed by Arkansas' brain fart.  And that brain fart happened to be against the Big 12.  Good Luck to Ohio State and LSU.  I think it will be a great game with Ohio State winning by 10.

I agree the Big 12 is the conference this year...the SEC not so much, UF beat by UM, ouch so much for Tebow... TN winning by a TD, Arkansas crushed, if the Bucks pull it off so much for SEC dominance.

I agree that the Big 12 has looked better in the bowls and I'm a huge SEC guy.  However, I think everyone can agree that Missouri got screwed out of a BCS bowl because of the dumb rule that only one team per conference can be in BCS games.  Missouri out matched Arkansas in every facet.  McFadden wasn't focused because he's going to the NFL and the rest of the team wasn't focused because they didn't have their head coach coaching them.  I know Georgia is really good, but that was not a good matchup for the Sugar Bowl.  Neither was the Rose Bowl and consequently, after the BCS Championship game there will still be the debate of USC and Georgia being the best teams in the country.  Do I agree, after the showing of the Rose and Sugar it's hard to argue it but even I'll admit the dominant play of those two teams were inflated by the inferior opponent.  The Kansas/VT game showed that Kansas deserved their shot at the BCS and I'm glad that Kansas won that game, what a story Kansas was this year.  In my opinion the BCS Bowls should have matched up like this:

Rose: UGA vs USC
Sugar: Missouri vs WVU
Orange: Kansas vs VT (good matchup there)
Fiesta: Oklahoma vs ANYONE but Illinois or Hawaii... possibly Arizona State???  Not sure about that one.

Georgia fan here (with too much time on my hands)

I agree the big 12 looked pretty stout in the bowl season.  And it's tough to argue with OU, Kansas, and Mizz all in top 10.  Big 12 didn't get enough props this year.

I also agree with you that the Tebow hype is nauseating.  CBS and ESPN have a freaking man crush on Tebow.  It's disgusting.  I was pretty happy to see em take it on the chin.  About made me throw up when Lee Corso predicted that Florida would blow Michigan away and would start next year ranked #1 pre-season.  Which will still probably happen given the orange and blue colored glasses the media wears.

But, I don't quite agree about the SEC looking weak in the bowls.  Even if LSU loses, the SEC still goes 6-3 in the bowls.  That's pretty good.  If you take a good hard (and objective) look at the specific matchups, I think that says alot more than the actual record.

Let's look shall we.  I'll do the SEC since I know it.  You do the Big 12.

Miss. State...Nobody, seriously, nobody was predicitng they'd win their game.  Could call it a minor upset.  In the CBS polls, UCF is 25.  MS 40.

Alabama...(the 9th best team in the SEC) beats Colorado (the 9th best team in Big12).  Bama and Colorado were ranked 66 and 67 by cbssports.  Evenly matched.  You'd expect a close game.

Kentucky (7th in SEC) beats FSU (6th in ACC) - granted, FSU was missing nearly a third of their team.  Shoulda been worse.  This one probably proves your point.  But Kentucky doesn't exactly have much of a bowl history in the last 20 years.  Just to be here was a big deal for them.

Arkansas (6th in SEC) gets blown out by Mizz (2nd or 3rd in Big 12 - you decide).  I'm pretty sure you'd have a similar score if UGA lined up and played Texas A&M.  How can this be a suprise?  How can this indicate the SEC is down?  Come on.  Be fair here.  It's like saying the SEC is down because USC blew out Arkansas a few years ago.

Auburn (5th in SEC) upsets higher ranked Clemson (3rd in ACC).

Tennessee (4th in SEC) beats an evenly matched Wisconsin (2nd or 3rd best in Big10)

Florida - (3rd in SEC arguably) gets spanked by Michigan (probably 2nd best in Big 10).  OK, this one was ugly.  And I loved it.  Carr really got em up for his last game.  This one proves your point.

UGA - 2nd best (I'm biased but I'd say THE best) in SEC.  OK, yeah they were playing Hawaii, but they beat em so bad, it was embarassing.  Corso, Mark Mays, and others predicted Hawaii would win.  Given what Boise did to your Big 12 sooners last year, I think this was a big statement by the Dawgs.

Lsu - we'll see, won't we.

Bottom line:  the SEC with 1 exception, won the games it should have, won the evenly matched games, won a few it shouldn't have, and lost the one it was really overmatched in.  Hard to say that's a disappointing showing.

Give me the lowdown on Big 12.

Big 12 worst teams vs SEC worst teams: Ole Miss, S Carolina and Vandy vs. Baylor, Iowa St. and Kansas St....pretty clear that the 3 SEC downers would take the Big 12 cellar dwellers.

Last year, Florida finished #1 overall and LSU finished #2, two SEC schools.

If LSU wins NC monday, LSU finishes #1 and Georgia finishes #2, two SEC schools

Big 12 best Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas vs. LSU, Georgia ,and Florida, any matchup here and I take the SEC..Florida beats MIch nine out of ten, emotion win and letdown for TEbow

trainplatz... as much as i'd love to agree with you but 9 out of 10 times OU would beat Boise State.  too bad they only played one time.  florida let the SEC down but it was a hell of a game to watch none the less.  I think UGA vs Missouri would be a VERY good game to watch.  Hopefully we'll get it next year in the NC

Your points are well made. I'm from the Big XII and as good of year as MU, OU and KU had, I'd have to agree that I wouldn't flat out pick any of them over UGA or LSU. I would like to think that the Big XII was the 2nd best conference this year over the PAC 10. USC ended the season strong and Oregon could've won the NC if they hadn't lost their QB but I'd say top to bottom it would be SEC, Big XII, Pac 10, Big 10...

big 12 isn't close to the SEC TOP to bottom, but being 2nd place is okay for the big 12. Your best team got destoryed and that say's what????  Your confernce got some nice matchups in bowls to win. aCC sucks, dont' won't to hear va tech is a great team. LSU destoryed them.

Let's get one thing straight here. You haters need to stop blaming tebow for the losses. For christ sakes the guy throws three touchdown passes and scores one and it's his fault everytime for you haters. Our defense is non-existant. I give credit to Michigan for being aggressive, but come on. If you watched the game you know that Michigan blitzed almost all day and we had a hard time picking it up. Tebow hardly had anytime to throw at all.

So what really happened. Michigan knew our weaknesses and exposed them. Congratulations to Michigan. But quit blaming tebow who accounted for 4 TD's!

Tebow=overrated

Tebow is not even the best player on his own team. He throws 5 yard passes and Harvin makes 8 guys miss and scores an 80 yard TD.  Then the media says what a play by Tebow. Tebow had 4 touchdowns, but accounted for only 200 yards. Henne dominated him head to head. Tebow didn't make plays when they needed it. The loss is on his hands. Tebow is a glory hog, who is all about padding his stats. Ya, he rushed for 22 TDs and how many of them were longer than 5 yards? People say Florida has no running game, but the truth is Tebow is a ball hog and doesn't want anyone to steal his personal glory. James is a quality back and would average over 100 yards per game on most SEC schools.

If this game is sloppy  and close say 17 to 13 LSU does Georgia or USC have a chance at a possible shared national Title? I personally believe Georgia is the best team in football.

Not impessive? How about 6-2 sec  big ten 3-4 you do the math. Osu will be 0-9 against the mighty sec. A much more experienced florida team more than likely would have beat michigan. 70% of there team are freshman and sophmores. Wait till next year they will be very good........ Lsu wins 31-23

The SEC is 6 and 2, but really doesn't have a quality win over another major conference.

Georgia beat Hawaii (The WAC has been pathetic in bowl games this year)

Kentucky barely beat FSU (who had 36 players missing).

UT barely beat Wisc (Wisc dominated them in the 2nd half)

AU beat a pretty good Clemson team in OT( Probably the best win of the bunch)

Alabama beat the #9 big 12 team

MSU beat CFU

In the two match ups where the SEC played a good team they got beat: Arkansas and Florida. If OSU beats LSU the Big 10 who had a terrible year would have beat 2 of the best 3 SEC teams.
