Is it just me or does it seem like we have been a little slow getting out of the gate?  We have picked up a couple guys that were headed elsewhere, I hope Mangino has a few four stars hiding up his sleeve to surprise us.  Everyone looks solid...just not spectacular.  My early prediction for next year is 8-4/9-3 depending on injuries...with a mid level bowl.  If it wasn't for this year being so fantastic,  I'd be thrilled.

Im not too worried about having a ton of 4 star players next year. Look what he did with a bunch of 2 and 3 star players this year. I hope like he** that he finds a way to keep everyone healthy for next year and out of trouble this off season. We return more players on both sides of the ball than I can ever recall. We have the best o-line JoCo kid (Nathan D’Cunha) coming hear next year to help. One of the top QB's out of Dodge City. Im also excited about the TE's that are looking at coming to KU. More weapons for Reesing to throw the ball to... Or block for Sharp.

9-3 would be a great year with the schedule that we have facing us in '08...

Just my $.02

9-3, heck why not 12-0, we know we can beat Texas (dont even get me started on '04), we just about beat OU 3 years ago at Arrowhead when they were id say better than this years team, and Texas Tech well i dont know alot about them, and Mizzou looses Martin Rucker and possibly but very unlikely Chase Coffman (like i said probably not gonna happen but remember Julian).  KU also brings back most of its weapons from last year like Todd, Jake, Chris Harris, Desmon, and so on.

I think that 12-0 is stretching it a bit, don't you? I was calling the OU game in Norman a loss. I also think that we are going to struggle on D with the loss of Talbi and McCliton. After thinking about it, 10-2 is more likely, but I just felt like there could be a let down between Texas, MU or NU. Im just trying to think thru all of the possibilities for the Hawks next year.

I would love to see a 12-0 season, but my gut tells me that it is not going to happen. Which is sad to say after such a great season...

Just my $.02

they havent left yet, in fact Talib said he hadnt even thought about the NFL this year. And dont worry about Nebraska, if Bo can make a 40 pt. swing in one year then Bo knows football.  10-2 aint bad is right but 12-0 is so much better.

The TE you are getting from Omaha Westside is a Beast.  Wife teaches at school there and he is a good kid and a monster blocking te. Like to lay licks on people bad.  Since Westisde runs a version of the Wishbone all the TE's do is lay hits on blockers all day.

Thanks for the web site...

This kid is going to fit in KU's program very well. Looking forward to some more "action" this signing season with the Orange Bowl appearance... Good things are going to happen with this team!

You guys, dont fret over the lack of four or five star recrutis. What counts in football is a veteran team that can execute its plays and be in position to make things happen. As we have seen with a number of KU players, 2 star players like Dezmon Briscoe and Anthony Collins are complete play makers and Aqib Talib is widely considered the best CB in the game right now. All Rivals and Scout inc really do is pick out the kids who have developed early and play well in high school. They then point them out as 5 and 4 star kids who can come to school and make an impact earlier. By using strategic redshirts, developing players to their strengths (Collins was orginally recruited as a DE and is now a 1st team All American LT) and developing kids with good potential using awesome assitant coaches, KU is in line to be a consistently great football program. If you check out www.jayhawkslant.com, look at the football recruits and all of the three star recruits are highly ranked.

Bughasnow, Tim Biere is an awesome talent. Thanx for the link too. It was reported earlier by Rivals that he was approacehd first by Tom Osbourne himself (remember this kid is out of Omaha) and declined saying he was committed to being a jayhawk. He was later approached by new head coach Bo Pelini (who on a side note if nothin else will bring back that D for sure) and repeated that he is Jayhawk. that is unprecedented for KU to go INTO NEBRASKA and take a great recruit That Tom Osbourne wanted. Ludicrous. Combine that with tanner Hawkinson, another big Kansas farm boy type TE who is just right behind Biere in the rankings of TEs and KU will have quite the tandem of TE (much like that school across the border!!)

Dont fret about McClinton leaving, he was a beast but did any one see redshirt freshman Jamaal Greene blowing stuff up against Iowa St. the game McClinton didnt play? He should be a fine replacement.

On a final note, the one position i think KU needs to recruit better at is LB. I know we had three of the best LB on that '05 team but it needs to consistently happen.

KU is still in the running for 4star RB Buea Johnson out of Butler and 4star RB Cyrus Gray (the 5th best RB prospect in the nation) out of Florida.

Rockchawk!!

FLORIDA STATE has screwed the pooch with a major academic scandal.  Didn't Crabtree committ to Florida State?...but now I don't see him on their commit list.  Has he backed out?   Any chance we can bring home a 4star linebacker?

Hey dont even worry about 4 and five star recruits, im a mizzou fan and i know what kansas and mizzou have both done without 4 and 5 stars.  Hell, chase daniel was only a 3 star.  On the flip side though, i dont mind getting four and five stars, lol.  The 5 star gabbert who everyone has heard of and the 4 star andrew jones are both playing in the U.S. army HS all american bowl.  (Top 3 at each position usually play in the bowl)  Jones will continue the great tradition of NFL tight ends at mizzou.  (Remember, rucker and Coffman were 2 and 3 star) ;-)

I knew Coffman was something special back in HS when he kicked our team's ass in the playoffs while playing hurt.

K-State has announced that their Offensive Coordinator is leaving for Maryland and Chris Harper has de-committed.  The site also identifies their loss to KU as their "Game of the Year" even though they had wins over Texas and Colorado.  I would say that their inferiority complex is in full view right now.

Without their win over Colorado, they would have been winless in the North Division.  Losses to Iowa State and Fresno State probably weren't in their plans.  Ron Prince is in for a rough time if the Cats don't find new life while Hawks and Tigers return to top 10.

Keep talkin' Californiajhk. Considering KU's only top25 opponent made you look like a JV squad for 3qtrs doesn't lend much to your accomplishments. And,....as far as KU returning to the Top 10,...were you even alive the last time KU was in the Top10? Have they ever finished a season ranked in the Top10 in your lifetime? Before you start talking about wins and losses, why don't you get Mangino to coach a victory over a TOP 10 opponent, or a Longhorn or Sooner team, or a Nebraska team that ISN'T the worst in school history.

Mr. Wolfe....With a 11-1 record this year and many returning players, along with the chance to beat the #5 rated Virginia Tech team in the Orange Bowl, it doesn't seem too far fetched that the Hawks might start next year highly ranked.

Regardless of my age, you don't have to go too far back to the Glenn Mason era and KU victories in the Hula Bowl to find a #9 ranking after clobbering UCLA.  I admit they haven't done it often.

And since you seem to be a KSU and Big 12 fan you should understand that the conference made the schedule.  Am I suppose to apologize for the Huskers being the worse  Nebraska team in 40 years?

I am normally quite sympathetic to KSU, and my earlier comments were not intended to be rude or  nasty.  In fact if you knew me or read any of my earlier posts you would know  I have given KSU and Bill Snyder  a great deal of credit for the improvement of the entire North Division.  Once KSU climbed out of the basement, no one else had any excuse.  KU and MU had been mediocre for years and finally woke up to build competitive programs.  KU's cupcake schedule came straight out of the K-State blue print for how to build a program.

Before you get into the hate-bait game you might want to find out who your friends really are and then do a little history homework.  If you are really interested in my age it is over 50 and I watched a lot of losing football before I got to enjoy a year like this.  Good luck to your team next year even though they are my 2nd choice.

KU just had a great addition today! 3 star DT Darius Parrish who had previously been committed to play at Nebraska but de committed earlier in the year gave an oral committment to play at KU. This guy is 6-3 325, a monster. KU has noq signed 17 recruits for this class, all 3 stars or higher.

Some highlights - Sean Ransburg (3star ATH <originally a QB> 6-1 195) was just named The Best football Player in Kansas City. He threw 58 tds this year.

Trevor Marrongelli (3 star OL out of Texas 6-4 285) just named the Player of the Year in his district.

Zach Stadther (3star DT out of Arkansas 6-2 275) was preseason defensive player of the year in the state and recorded more than 100 tackles!

These are just some of the highlights listed for KUs incoming class. KU is still high in the running for 4 star RB Cyrus gray out of Texas as well.

I'm very impressed with the pledge from Wichita North defensive tackle Darius Parish. Parish is a 6-3, 325lb monster. He is a very skilled player.

With K-State having lackluster football seasons, KU must capitalize on the best in-state recruits. In addition, of course, going to Nebraska and other Big 12 states (namely TX & OK) to get good players is a must.

How do you think KU will use Sean Ransburg? As a CB, perhaps, if Talib leaves?
