The potential is definately there.I think the runs will come because there is too much talent in that lineup to not produce....If they can get the obp up then it will be like 2006...Pitching is going to be the biggest question, if the bullpen holds up then they are going to be able to compete....

if the White Sox can pitch and play defense they'll be able to compete. If not, its gonna be another long season...

You have major flaws in your analysis. Fields will not be the LF starter, he will come off the bench this year, and fill in for Crede when he needs rest. Also, I can see something happen after spring training where the Sox trade Crede and Uribe to get pitching. Danks and Floyd scare me, and I can't wait to see Gio Gonzalez try to get in on the rotation.

I like the new blood in Owens and Richar, they will do well in their second seasons, and they will shape up to be great young guys. I think you are WAY over to top on Konerko. I think he will go up in the HR totals around 35 but his average will be more around .265.

I think you are spot on about Dye, he will have a great year if he can stay away from the injuries. Thome and Pierzynski will continue to do what they do if healthy as well.

The pitching is scary, as I said above, but there is NO WAY the Sox will have a bullpen similar to the one from last year. If i'm not mistaken, they revamped their coaching staff, let that idiot Myers go, and now have the best middle reliever in baseball, to go along with Jenks. If Wasserman can stay away from giving up the long ball, I think he also has a future.

My prediction is 2nd place behind Detroit by 2 games, and getting the wild card.

92-70, .275 AVG, 3.98 ERA

3B-Ramirez/Crede-screwed out of gold glove with good O vs. Great Defense and coming off of surgery?-ARAM

Didn't a pop fly hit him in the face this past year?

Absolutely NOT a gold glover, but would take him in a heartbeat over Crede.

SS-Theriot/Uribe-god help us both!-Pick Em

Orlando Cabrera is way better than Theriot, but I do like his nickname.

Team Predition stats 2008: 102-60

.292 AVG, 245 HR, 3.45 ERA, 55 SV.

No team has had a batting average that high since 2001, no one has had that many home runs since 2005, and ERA that low since 2003, and that many saves since 2004. If the White Sox were to accomplish all of those (they won't come close to any of them) 102-60 would be a huge dissapointment. Those stats are more likely to get you 128-34.

Ozzie and Kenny have not made a good move since the 2005 season. Since trading Rowand (who can figure that one out) it has been downhill ever since and I don't see the bottom yet. I don't see them winning more than 80, maybe 85 with a break or two. This diehard fan who remembers the fifties truly hopes to be proven wrong.

Hello Everyone!!!

First of all I would like to introduce myself and want to say that I am a huge Sox fan!!!! And secondly you are absolutely correct Rggns05!!!

1B (Konerko) – He’s one of the best first baseman in baseball. Just look at Pujols’,numbers and compare them to Konerko’s there basically the same but unlike Pujols, Konerko’s got gold glove written all over him. If he stays healthy: 395 AVG; 55 HR, 160 RBIs

2B (Richar) – Like you said he’s an unknown but have you watched this guy!!!! He’s an all-star in the making. I mean he has great POWER, SPEED and DEFENSE. How many teams can say they have a young second baseman stud like Richar that bats lefty: 333 AVR, 38 HR, 113 RBIs; 50 SB

SS (Cabrera) - Congratulations Kenny you got that all-star player you’ve been talking about. Cabrera is a BEAST!!!! You surround him with the greats we have in our line-up and he will win the MVP this year and that’s a FACT!!! Cabrera can do it all and can bat lead off or clean up. When it’s all said and done Cabrera: 400 AVG, 41 HR, 170 RBIs, 50-70 SB

3B (Crede) - Everyone complained when Miguel Cabrera went to Detroit but not me. Did you guys forget how awesome he was with us. He was the best defensive third baseman in the history of baseball. Yes, I said it, the HISTORY OF BASEBALL!!! He was like a vacuum at third base. Trust me guys we will not trade him. Actually we will give him a 10 year contract at $180 + million because that’s what he’s worth. When 2008 is over with Orlando Cabrera and Joe Crede will be fitting for MVP honors, but Cabrera will win it. 380+ AVG, 60+ HRs, 150 RBI’s but he will strike out a lot

C (A.J) – A.J. is exactly what the Sox need and thank god they signed him last year or every team in baseball would of wanted this guy. He is the glue that keeps the Sox together. He has a great attitude and is always positive. I look at A.J. and compare him to Phil Jackson when he coached the Bulls. Phil always emphasis on team chemistry and that’s what A.J. does. I’m predicting that when he retires he will manage and will be one of the greatest coaches ever PERIOD. 300 + AVG, 25+ HR, 100+ RBI

LF (Fields) – Like you said Rggns05 if Washington can convert Soriano into a right fielder why can’t the Sox do the same with Fields. If Soriano is receiving $18 million a year then Fields should receive $20 + million a year. Fields is would scouts call a pheonome. He has all the tools to be great in this league, just look at what he did last year in a short period of time. Remember this statement: “By 2030 Fields will have better numbers then A-ROD. He will be the all-time Homerun Leader.” I know people are laughing right now but if he stays healthy he will shatter many baseball records. If you look at his body he is built like a BULL, I mean he played football before. He will win the gold glove this year and the streak will extend until 2020. 350 AVG, 40-50 HR, 150 RBI, 35 SB

CF (Owens) - I really don’t know why all us Sox fans wanted Torii Hunter. Look Hunter is old and his best years are behind him. What I would do is give Owens that $90 million contract since he is younger and flat out a better player then Hunter. Owens is the type of player that can single handedly take over a game. He slaps the ball all over the field and can score from 1 st on a single. When was the last time baseball had a 100 stolen base guy, it’s been many, many years. But wait no more Owens will steal over 100 bases this year and for many years beyond this one. 310 AVG, 5 HR, 50 RBIs, 100+ SB, 150-200 runs scored.

RF (Dye) – I really don’t have to say much about Dye. Last year he was playing with injuries; his calf and back and he still put up solid numbers. He will duplicate his 2006 numbers again this year…..TRUST ME. 300+ AVG, 45+ HR, 120+ RBIs

DH (Thome) - David Ortiz can’t even shine Thome’s shoes. Thome reached the 500 home run mark last year and he has been injured most of his career. Imagine if he never battled wrist injuries, we would have been talking about Barry Bonds trying to break Thome’s home run record. But that’s OK, all that matters is next year Thome is healthy and ready to prove himself as the best DH in baseball and that’s a scary thought. 280+ AVG, 60 HR, 160 RBIs

The Pitching is solid if not one of the best in baseball. We have Buehrle who will win 20+ games this year and probably the Cy Young. Contreras is guaranteed to win 18+ games and Vazquez about 20. I know that Danks and Floyd are young pitches but they have the stuff to be awesome. I say they win about 15 games each. If you add up all those wins your looking at 90 + wins from just the rotation itself. Simply amazing!!!!!!! The bullpen was pretty bad last year but we got reinforcement. Linebrink will turn around that bullpen because he is a professional and has the knowledge to turn the Haeger’s, Logan’s, Masset’s, Thornton’s, Aardsma and Sisco’s of the world into all-star pitchers. And let’s not forget that we have BIG BAD Bobby Jenks!!!!!! With Macdougal pitching the 7 th , Linebrink pitching the 8 th and Jenks pitching the 9 th the game all of a sudden becomes a 6 inning game. Let’s all say it together “GAME OVER.”

How about the bench with Ozuna, Uribe, Quentin, (Great signing A+), Hall, Sweeney, Anderson , etc. Anytime Owens needs
