My crow to pick with you is with regard to Konerko. Based upon what he did this past year I cannot even begin to agree with you. In the first place, I think he should be traded NOW and for THAT purpose it would be fine to use you glowing numbers. We should be getting what we can for him before he has another season like last one. IF he is kept there is no way he should be left in the 4 hole. The guy is too slow, he seemed to "forget" last year that he doesn't have to pull everything, and he didn't do much at all in the clutch - to the contrary with runners on base he was basically a disaster. He should not bat above 6th to start the year and he should stay there . You would think that last year the Sox should have learned that just hitting home runs won't get it done - they need speed at the top of the lineup and at least SOME ability to run in the power slots. Without it , forget it for 2008.

You say Konerko didn't come in the clutch, your ABSOLUTELY correct, that was our whole problem last year...Paul Konerko. He is the reason why we didn't hit well as a team and pitch well as a team. Please trade him so our bullpen doesnt blow big leads and we can't string a series of hits together or lay down a bunt. Are you serious, Paul Konerko was not our problem, our problem was the Chicago White Sox. Aside from Bobby Jenks, nobody came through in the clutch and even then he blew a couple games. Baseball is not a one man sport, yes, Pauly had a bad season compared to his other year.....but so did everyone else. Don't single out 1 player unless you plan on blaming everyone else.
In regards to the Baltimore trade, I love it. I think we could package something together and pick up some good players. Roberts is an All star and Berdard is a potential Phenom. I don't want to let Crede go but for 2 players like that, its worth it.

Personally i would love the trade for bedard. i think he is better than johan. the sox are too stubborn though and think that Gavin Floyd is the best thing since a young alex fernandez. if i had my wish list i would bring in bedard and Alex Rios. i think those two moves would make them legit contenders. it wouldnt make them favorites but they would have a shot. Bedard is key. They need to do what it takes to get him. gonzalez, danks, richar, sweeney, fields ...whatever. get it done

Gamekills50,
Dude, some of us are CHICAGO FANS, not just Cubs and White Sox fans. Let's discuss what positions/players White Sox fans would rather over Cubs players...
1B-Lee/Konerko-Gold Glover, multi-tool player vs. 1 dimensional slugger-Lee
2B-DeRosa/Richar-Utility "average" player vs. 2nd year man?-DeRosa
3B-Ramirez/Crede-screwed out of gold glove with good O vs. Great Defense and coming off of surgery?-ARAM
SS-Theriot/Uribe-god help us both!-Pick Em
C-Soto/AJ-Rookie with power, potential vs. proven veteran-AJ
LF-Soriano/Fields-great arm with potential of great O #'s with moving down in lineup vs. great up and coming hitter with very suspect fielding-Soriano
CF-Pie+Fuld/Owens-Pick Em,nothing much to say about 3 guys who haven't had a complete year, Pie and Owens could be very nice suprises
RF-Fukodome/Dye-Pick Em Can't compare Dye's 2007 stats with someone from Japan, we'll see.
P-Zambrano/Vazquez/Buehrle-Big Z-no question

ummmm....ok.
first off, what's your point?
second if you were a true chicago fan or at least pay attention to sports. you would know that Uribe is not the SS for the White Sox, Fields is not our LF and Crede is not our 3B. You don't even have to be a White Sox fan to know that.
third, some of your picks...wow, horrible. I love the Sox but I'm not going to favor every position player on my team compared to other teams.
Lee/ Konerko, Lee may have a slight advantage but both equal. how is Lee and mutiplayer tool? He plays 1B.
Ramirez/Crede- screwed out of a gold glove??? Are you serious, welcome to Joe Crede's world, best defensive third baseman in baseball. Offensively, yeah, i will give ARAM the nod.
Fukudome/Dye- you say can't compare his 2007....fair enough, how about proven in MLB and unproven.
Know your stats and players before you throw out some garbage info, where any "CHICAGO FAN" would tear you up on. You might want to re-phrase you calling yourself a "CHICAGO FAN"

I'm a Sox fan and I think we are in store for a season that will be worse then last year! We won it all a few years back with pitching more then anything else. I like our 1 & 2 guys but Jose was awful last year and Danks didn't show much to impress anyone. Floyd is a huge question mark too and with 3 out of 5 questionable starting pitchers, that is not good. I agree with getting Bedard or any proven pitcher or 2! Our bullpen was awful last year! Getting Linebrink will help it but one guy isn't going to solve all the problems there!
This sox team is old and has a lot of holes! I'm not sold on Richar being anything special and would rather see Uribe play 2B for his pop. Crede is injury prone and inconsistant at the plate. Dye & Thome are old & ageing. Fields, Quenten & Owens are all young guys with potential that will be inconsistant this year. Konerko, Cabrera and AJ are solid players who are consistant veterans. The offense should be average at the minimum but the defense with so many young guys will probly struggle.
The Tigers, Indians, Twins where all superior to the Sox last year and none of those teams have lost anything this off season! The Tigers got alot better, and might be the best t | |
