I honestly cannot think of a team in recent history start out the season with as much promise as you had and finish as such a joke.  What a complete bunch of jokers you are, you don't even deserve to be in the Pac 10.

So we had a bad year. Disapointing to say the least. but to insult the players like that is just rude. They beat Oregon. does oregon not deserve to be in the Pac 10? you must not be a fan, just some jerk droping by the cal boards. It's one thing to be upset with your team. I am. but to call out these kids who are busting their @$$ every day and going to class all day trying to get their educations. They are making their lives better and there is no shame in that.. GO CAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

often a team's success makes their fans really greedy and that is exactly what has happened this year to some Cal fans

I'm not very happy with this season - but I'm also not angry about it. Havcing been going to games in Strawberry Canyon since my youth it really is great to see the stadium packed and people interested in Cal football.

That gets me through the tough losses - I hope it does the same for others too!

I'm happy to see that Cal football fans are talking and sharing their feelings about the season.  I remember a time when no one really cared about the success or failure of the team.  In fact, we had little, if any support from the administration, let alone the student body.

Sure the season was disappointing and after the OSU game, I'm sure the players high hopes for a shot at what appeared to be an unbelieveable season came crashing down.  It's not only difficult to swallow that kind of loss, but extremely difficult as an athlete to regroup.  Having said that, I can only say that it was difficult to watch the rest of the season slip away as it did.  But I can honestly say that I believe the players and coaches gave their all to provide us (the true CAL fans) with their best efforts.

Sure I question the quality of defensive coaching.....what appeared to be the Defense's inability to make adjustments to stop the pass or long drives during the course of certain games.....and sure our Offensive numbers indicate a second half of the season meltdown.  But I'm going to look at where this program has come and where it's going....and remind myself that there's much to be proud of these days and much more to look forward to at CAL.  I hope that those true CAL fans out there will do the same.

Coach Tedford should conduct his program evaluation to see where changes can be made and make those changes he feel are necessary to take this program to the next level.  I think with more emphasis on recruiting and on facilities, he'll be able to just that.  Till then.....sure we'll all have our time to ponder what might have been......but after it's all said and done......I hope everyone can do away with the negative talk and remember that there's much to look forward to......GO BEARS !!!

one thing that I want tp point out that hasn't been mentioned on any of these threads, or at least to my recollection:

Part of what CAN make Cal fans prove how proud and loyal they are is by sticking with their team and keeping others they know interested even though the Bay Area is and will be a pro sports dominated market for the forseeable future.

So what if the media in the area stops talking about our Bears after 2 losses. We're better than that! We're not shallow! We don't quickly jump on & off of the bandwagon. I mean come on - why talk about 2 NFL teams that possibly won't even have 10 wins between the two of them over 32 games?

Kind of makes 6-6 look pretty friggin' good - doesn't it!

I concur and have been a loyal Bear fan since the early 70s...... however, in the last 3 decades, the Bears played hard and did the best they could with very limited resources and support from the school.....now that they have full support, I would be remiss if I didn't feel ALOT more disappointed then in the aforementioned years.....we have the tools and underutilized them in a most woeful way.....with that said, I'll always support my alma mater and the Cal Bears in all sports.......let's just hope greater minds than mine realize the mistakes and make the adjustments necessary....we have come way too far to regress like we did this season...

Ive been a fan for as long as I can remember, and all that I remember is a bunch of expected bad seasons or extremely disappointing ones.  I feel the same way.  I stay loyal, but Im starting to learn not to get my hopes up because chances are, were going to blow it.
