Community,
We have a somewhat-new feature on Vcast/AT&T. Each week I ask you to explain why you love or hate a program. I'll usually do this when your team is playing a rival. And it just so happens UCLA is playing USC. So Bruins fans here's a small chance to take some nice shots at USC and tell the world what's so great about L.A.'s real college football team.
Here's the idea:
-- Tell us why you love the Bruins
-- And/or tell us why you hate the Trojans
-- Start your response with "I love the Bruins..." or "I hate the Trojans..."
-- Best submissions will be honored/mumbled/read/ridiculed on Vcast/AT&T by Ashley Hartman or Briana Lane.
-- Also, top-notch submissions will receive one free bottle of new Dodger skipper Joe Torre's cologne, Joe Juice*.
If you have Vcast or AT&T you can check out last week's Kansas-Mizzou ditty. I look forward to reading your submissions.
*Joe Juice is not real, and hopefully never will be.

I love UCLA because they are winners (100 national championships), have the best colors in all of major collegiate sports, is located in the best part of LA, and will beat USC on Saturday, just like last year.

I hate UCLA because the majority of those 100 national titles that their fans like to boast about came from obscure sports like Mens Vollyball, Womans Water Polo, and Womans Softball.

I love USC and hate UCLA because I attended both schools (USC for undergrad, UCLA for grad) and I know for a fact: You get what you pay for.
I love USC for its tradition and pride. I love USC for its beautiful brick campus, its true and enduring sense of Trojan Family, its glowing gold and deeply rich cardinal soul.
I hate UCLA for the fans' unclassy behavior, the baby blue and anemic yellow colors, the feeling that you are just one number among many when dealing with administrative staff.
I love USC for its continual striving to be more. I love that USC has risen through the academic ranks - it is only 2 spots below UCLA in US News and World Report and I expect the university to overtake UCLA in the coming years.
I love that as a USC student, I thought I could do anything.
I hate UCLA for borrowing Cal's fight song (come up with your own, plagiarists), for their silly eight-clap (good thing they're not asked to count above ten), and for their cartoon bear sidekicks ( Ranger Smith called and you're needed back in Jellystone Park to annoy tourists). I love USC for how easy it is to parody UCLA's eight-clap and fight song.
I love USC for its original fight song, and for turning film scores (appropriate for the best film school in the world) into "Conquest" and "Tribute to Troy." I love USC for how much other schools despise it when we play "Conquest." I love USC for the SoCal spellout. I love the classy 'SC Song Girls, who don't need to show oodles of flesh to be gorgeous and sexy. I love USC because our male spirit leaders get to wear athletic shirts and shorts, unlike their counterparts in the dorky polyester blue duds (emphasis on dud.)
I love USC because Troy Aikman dared to play for UCLA with a name like his and lost every head-to-head battle with 'SC, even when Rodney Peete had the measles.
I hate UCLA because they can't even match their band uniforms to their cheerleader uniforms to their football uniforms (but if I were in the UCLA marching band, I'd refuse to wear baby blue, too.)
I love USC because the Spirit of Troy Trojan Marching Band has a platinum record to their name ("Tusk" with Fleetwood Mac), has appeared in numerous films and TV series, and has played for presidents and popes. And they are generally regarded as one of the top college marching bands in the country. I hate UCLA because the most outstanding feature of their band is that they dress as if they attended Cal (but again, I can't blame them for not having pride in their school or its colors).
I could go on...

I love UCLA because USC always think they're so much better than any college in SC, and USC is equal to all other colleges. So they shouldn't be snobby cause they think they are tougher than others, or smarter, or "should" be the winners. I love humility, strenght in adversity and lack of airs, the trojans remind me of the Roman empire. Still standing but in ruins. So GO BRUINS! GO UCLA all the way, GO UCLA get the payday, GO UCLA I don't care what they say!

I love the Bruins because like it or not, we have the most national championships in all of collegiate sports. I hate the Trojans because they're jealous and attempt to come up with excuses explaining why our championships don't matter. Basketball baby!!! And yes, I'll take gymnastics, those girls are cute and limber in bed.
I hate the Trojans because everytime I go to they're campus I am mistaken for a BLOOD and shot at by CRIPS. I love the Bruins because Westwood is not South Central.
I hate USC because I can't believe they would charge $25,000 a year to live next door to the projects. Guess what dormers? Your next door neighbor has his rent paid for by the government.
I love UCLA because basketball is much more fun to attend. No long delays, non stop action and a #1 program year in and year out. I hate USC because even when they are out of the National Championship running (2 consecutive years) they claim that they're the best.
I hate USC because they also claim to share a National Championship with Auburn. Guess what USC? you didn't play in the National Championship that year, therfore you can't claim it.
I hate USC because OJ Simpson went there
I love UCLA because Kareem Abdul Jabbar went there
I hate USC because I get the giggles when I think of Reggie Bush having his Heisman taken away and USC a championship taken away
I love UCLA because of the 3 most recent USC football championships, they're down to one legit one

I love the FACT that USC has the greatest College Football Coach in the Nation- A class act that represents the school well. I love the Fact that USC is more than National Championships, but about honoring the students (academic and athletically). Sure even a mythical claim to a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP when both polls AP and Coaches voted USC #1 can iritate an SEC fan or two.
While HATE is a strong word, I dislike and am offended by UCLA ers that characterize all of the USC populace as Spoiled, Arrogant, Brats, etc. However, I thank UCLA for beating Oregon to make this week's game all that more sweet!!
So for all you Haters of USC, take it from a member of the class of 1971, Girls and Boys it does not get any better than this!! USC, America's College Football Team, because the program is respected from the top down and is a class act!!
We will see you at the Rose Bowl January 1st- Fight ON!!!
And to T.J. Simers, I guess the Trojans need not worry about a Bowl in "sunny El Paso" : - ) Your retraction and consumption of a huge slice of CROW is warranted!

I love UCLA and USC because of the responses in this thread...lol. Only when they play each other is where you see the most emotion..splitting of families and friends that attended either or both schools, and pranks played each year...even if there's nothing on the line. The only thing missing in UCLA football today is that "gutty little bruin" mentality that one now sees in Boise ST football and the consistent play that goes with it. Great moments and memories from each side over the years. What I miss the most is the good old days when both teams wore their home jerseys for this game and all the colors on the field and in the stands. The bigger question is if UCLA will allow USC to move into the Rose Bowl...Pasadena has a number of events limit for the Rose Bowl and it will be hard to get the residents to approve a change as well as getting UCLA's blessing. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is a historic site, but almost needs a complete redesign or torn down(?)/rebuilt to bring it up to modern standards and expectations...one could say the same things about the Cotton Bowl aka Fair Park Bowl. Either way, USC is losing recruits because of the Coliseum and low night attendence because of where it's located and lack of nearby eateries for after game activities.

$uc is such an easy target, but I'll keep it as brief as possible:
Football:
- OJ Simpson
- Snoop Dogg cruising the sidelines
- Pete Carroll is a smug SOB - but the NCAA will catch up with you soon ..... CHEAT ON!
- Bush's free house and benefits
- Jarrett's free rent
- Brian Cushing would make a pretty woman
- Classy Matt Leinart impregnating a $UC athlete and then disappearing
- Rey Malaluga and all the other thugs that commit felonies and get away with it (on and off the field) due to $uc alum LA Asst DA and payoffs to/intimidation of the refs.
- The Masoleum and almost getting killed there by the Raider Nation thugs and $C "fans" who have jumped on the bandwagon over the past few years.
- Male Cheerleaders dressed like pretty boys - LOL!
- $UC Cheerleaders often mistakenly cheer for the opponent!
- Claiming National Championships that don't exist from the 20's and even the 90's...enjoy the "One Peat" idiots!!! Oh wait a second, this just in, the $UC Athletic Dept has just claimed ANOTHER NC in football!
Basketball
- Hanging "Elite Eight" banners in their arena
- No one shows up to their new arena - great fan support
- Juice Deuce - OJ Mayo - he'll "kill" this year and then be off to the pros
- Shady Tim Floyd and his recruitment of "student athletes" at $UC
- "It's Just $C"...UCLA player JR Henderson...says it all
General - as I said, $UC is an easy target, so I'll try to keep it brief.
- $UC: "Pay A Fee Get A Degree"
- University of South Central = U$C
- University of Spoiled Children = U$C
- The idea of the "Trojan Family"....I laugh every time some idiot claims that it exists...basically it's a question of idiot $UC alums employing fellow $UC alums so that they won't feel inferior while wallowing in their own mediocrity. The concept also applies to all the rich Orange County $UC alums paying recruits to play sports (and particularly football) at $UC.
- The idea that $UC is catching up to UCLA - just like athletics, they play games with SAT scores (multiple sittings), spring admits, etc ... anything to tweak the numbers up so they can STILL sit behind UCLA...while UCLA is called one of the "New Ivies", $UC is thumping their chest over trumped up self-proclamations..whatever helps you sleep at night.
- $UC has absolutely little recognition or reputation outside of Southern California - most folks think of the University of South Carolina when you speak of USC anywhere else. UCLA, on the other hand, is WORLDWIDE respected and a known quality for ACADEMIC as well as ATHLETIC excellence. In several job interviews on the East Coast and in Europe that resulted in three different positions, the companies in question mentioned my degree as a reason for hiring me to senior management positions. If it had been from $UC...forget it.
As far as UCLA, so much to love and for which to be thankful as a Son of Westwood, especially the fact that I'm not an alum of that pitiful excuse for an academic institution.
By the way 13-9....and we're going to shock the world again Saturday!!!
And then the NCAA will finally institute the long-overdue sanctions when the gravy train finally breaks down.

I love the bruins for their commitment to mediocrtiy. ucla could go 1-11, and if that 1 win was against SC they consider it a SuCcessful season. At ucla it's all about the SC game, at SC it's all about the SC game.

wow... I love the misplaced passion (fantasy) of this ucla fan 4 life-to attack the Song Girls and the preppy image of the Male Yell(Pep) squad.... errrrrrrr can we say reaching.
But as a Trojan Luver, I respect the UCLA Basketball Tradition and class of its current coach. But respect the attempt of a good Coach Dorrell being critiqued for a team that is injured and not at 60% strength!!
the good news for UCLA fan is that Coach Carroll will not roll up the score December 1 and 35-14 will likely be the outcome IF UCLA comes with an offense!! If not it will be a Notre Dame like thumping- I am referring to the USC-Notre Dame game not the UCLA-Notre Dame game which should have been a Scoreless TIE!!
We all love USC for its ability to generate Dislike(I hate the hate term, you just don't know USC that well UCLA fan!! : - ))
See you December 1!!!
Watch us on TV January 1 in your "house"!!
Fight ON!!

I love the Bruins because of the fantastic life experience I got attending the university. The well-roundedness of the education goes without saying. Set in Westwood, it is in the center of the LA buzz. And the mascot... it is hard to imagine anyone suing UCLA about a bear. Now that idiot in the dress on the white horse... well...
I can't say that I hate the Trojans because somewhere deep inside the darkest place in my mind I know that it can't be all that bad to attend Southern Cal. In all seriousness, the 32K/year in tuition, mandatory fees and lifestyle costs (http://www.usc.edu/academics/classes/term_20061/tu ition/) must buy something fairly potable - at least one would hope so.
