Quote "And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sit in shirtsleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come." Field of Dreams"
I still love baseball. Scandal has torn the game apart in recent years. Players egos and greed have turned many a fans stomach. To realize that a shortstop can make more than a cancer research scientist. Yet every spring I can't wait to see what promise my favorite team will bring to the table. Spring training games packed with fans in search of the now elusive autograph from their favorite player. With all that is wrong with the sport of baseball, it is however still an American pastime. Though football has taken over as far as popularity in this country, I still can't wait for opening day. This game is steeped in history. Everyone who is a sports fan can remember Willie Mays "The catch", Aarons 715, "The Giants Win the Pennant, Carlton Fisk, willing his home run ball into fair territory. It's odd, I remember these things, yet I can't seem to recall a single play from a Super Bowl prior to this year? The history of the game. The moments we will never forget. Our fathers taking us to our first big league game. You had never seen grass so green in your entire life! I still love this game. I hate to see it in the state its' in. I hate that it will probably never get better. Yet, every spring I can't wait for opening day. People say its' "boring". Your opinion. Your entitled. I still love this game. I remember imitating players as a kid. Doing the Willie Stargell bat waggle, looking to the heavens as I was about to heave a fastball like Fernando Valenzuela, crouching down in my stance like Pete Rose. Memories is will never forget. I still love this game. Memories of what was. I hope to have many more memories as I move into my latter years.
I still Love this game.
