Let's hear it for the NFL. Owners did the right thing by awarding Indianapolis the 2012 Super Bowl. First, the city has a gorgeous new park. Second, it has a zillion hotels in the downtown district, so that there would be a consolidation that there wasn't, say, a year ago in Miami. Third, it's a beautiful downtown, full of plenty of friendly and helpful people. Fourth, Shapiro's is within walking distance of all the downtown hotels. If they were going to put a Super Bowl in a cold-weather city Indianapolis should have been first in line. The city does a great job with the combine every year. Glad to see Indy get a chance to host the NFL championship game. The league will not regret this decision.

Picking Indy for Super Bowl was the right moveThis is more of a homer question than anything, but what did you think of the Super Bowl done in Detroit? I heard they actually did a pretty good job with it, which surprised the hell out of me. Do you think they would bring it back here anytime soon? Granted, it is a cold weather city, and we have had some recent economic troubles, but maybe another big sporting event would provide some much needed economic relief? |

Picking Indy for Super Bowl was the right moveAs evidenced by Indy's handling of the NCAA basketball tourney regionals and finals and the 500, they are certainly more than capable of handling a Superbowl. A new park will only add to the atmosphere. |
