Memphis could be better than last year!

Posted on: April 17, 2008 12:15 am

Memphis has signed Tyreke Evans, Angel Garcia, Matt Simpkins, and it looks good for Devon Ebanks and Witherspoon to follow Evans. That in it's self could be a contender if indeed we sign Ebanks and Witherspoon. CDR could return most likely will make the jump to the NBA. but returning Anderson, Dozier, Mack,Taggert, Robinson, and Kemp It would be a team of destiny. This team could be better than last years. I know I'm jumping the gun on the 2 unsigned players but I think with Tyreke signing it will tilt those players in our favor since they have said Memphis is a school of intrest for both. Also Andre Allen can return for another year if he wants to play. Coach Cal and Memphis should be cocked and loaded for 08. Go Tigers

Memphis could be better than last year!

The difference between Memphis this past season and the two seasons prior was Derrick Rose. Don't underestimate the importance of a great point guard in that system. Calipari will always have long athletes, and the teams should always be solid, but I don't see them being better than Rose's team. Evans is very good and has a very solid handle, but he's a shooting guard. I don't even see him as a combo guard. That means that Kemp is probably the lead guy to play that spot, and in my opinion that's a big drop-off and won't make the team as dangerous. That said, I don't see any way they aren't a top 10 team next year, and that's pretty good coming off a title appearance and losing quality talent.

Memphis could be better than last year!

Any team losing a guard like Rose is going to suffer but its hard to feel sorry for Memphis. The talent returning and whats coming in make the Tigers a force to be reckened with. Easily a top 10 team with final 4 implications. I see the Tigers entering the tournment a 1 seed much the same way they did this year. Not exactly a stretch of the imagination. A year older and wiser may have Memphis going deep. Thats the way I see their season going and hope my Hawks do not have to play them at all.

Well it may all sound good but that two loss season probably won't happen again this year. Depending on how thier schedule is they'll probably lose about twice the games that they did last year which isn't saying much.

Yes, all of those tough home games we had this year will turn into tougher road games next year.
