Dan McCutchen

Another member of the '06 draft making an impression. Down at AA Trenton last night, McCutchen went 7 innings, allowed only 1 hit (a broken bat bleeder) and struck out 12 while lowering his ERA to 1.42 and his WHIP to an absurdly low  0.79.

He stands at 3-1 on the season, and currently leads the Eastern League in strikeouts.

In other pitcher news, JB Cox was promoted to Trenton from Tampa, Dave Robertson makes the same leap from AA to AAA, and Mark Melancon threw 2 more scoreless with 2 K's in Tampa. He should be moving up very soon as well.

Whole lotta pitching developing. I like it.

As a life long Yankee fan to keep hearing about all the pitching prospects the team now has is like being in a dream. This club has never believed in pitching like it does now. Every once in awhile over the last 45 years or so they would have 2 or at most 3 top level pitching prospects at a time. I love the change in the teams philosophy. Pitching is like money, you never can have too much of it.

Keep up the good news for us all nasty.

I got to say that I am in complete agreement with the "YankGatorade" here... I've been following the Yankees attentively since 1983... and to finally here about all the potential and the great strides this organization is making in going out and getting raw young new talent is well.. AWESOME!! I mean we do great over seas now concentrating at home on pitching is great!!!

Question is can Joe Girardi handle all this input of talent... (sarcasm)... I can see many roster moves being made this year....

I still think though we need to be more agressive in the areas of Free Agency and go after guys like Johan Santana when teams like the Mets are getting him for what amounts to a hill of beans... I mean they gave up 4 or there 7 prospects.... that means they the Twins number 7 which is going to be like the 230th prospect in the minors... so right there... I think you see where I am going... I just dont want us to lose site of an aggressive move into the Free Agent Market when the potential is there..

Nasty, Clagget has been pitching well in AA too, and is Humberto Sanchez still hurt?

Also any chance Montero makes it to AAA by seasons end?
