My Top 10 NFL Games of 2008

Posted on: April 15, 2008 7:28 pm

With the 2008 NFL schedule finally published, a challenge went out to post your top 10 games.  Normally I would have passed this by but I'll bite.  So here's my list for what the top 10 will be.

Week 3:

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis

With the progress being made in the Jacksonville, it’s possible that the Colts actually will have to run the season before grabbing the AFC South title, which could be taken away from them by the Jaguars.  If the Jaguars start out strong against Indianapolis in the early part of the season, the Jags could run the gauntlet and we could see a shift in power next season.

Week 4:

Ravens at Pittsburgh

Except for the first game in 2007, a game against the Ravens is never an easy one.  Ravens will be healthy and own the Steelers for the most part.  Ravens have a chance to start their season off by beating the defending AFC North champions.  Steelers need this game as to not fall behind in the division.

Week 6:

Patriots at San Diego

Definitely no love loss between these teams.  Chargers defense is going to come on strong, as always.  Chargers will be out to prove they can beat the Patriots and the Patriots will continue to attempt to humiliate the Chargers.

Giants against the Browns

The Browns have an opportunity to upset the reigning SB champion and show the world that last season was not a fluke.  The Giants are out to protect their crown and want to prove that they weren’t a fluke also.

Week 8

Cardinals at Carolina

Two teams with potential to be division winners.  Delhomme will hopefully be healthy and the Cardinals young team will be in sync.  This will probably be the most underrated game of the week.
Week 14

Cowboys at Pittsburgh

Cowboys/Steelers games are will always be reminiscent of the Bradshaw/Staubach matchup.  Could Romo/Roethlisberger make these games as exciting as the ones I grew up with?

Week 17:

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh

Given both teams strength of schedule for next season, the possibility is great for a nail biter for this past seasons AFC North division contenders.  This game holds implications of a tie breaker for the division title in 2008

Final Three:

Colts/Steelers – Steelers/Patriots – Patriots/Colts

These three games represent a triangle….Patriots had taken the AFCC away from the Steelers and went on to win the SB that year.  The year after Steelers had done the same to the Colts, the year after the Colts took out the Patriots and got the monkey off their back.

Okay, so I’m a Steelers fan, why wouldn’t the majority of my top 10 be Steeler games…lol.

My Top 10 NFL Games of 2008

Thank you Cajunsteelerguy, if I was being unrealistic, I could have put the Steelers up there for all the top 10 games...at least they'll be my top 10 come regular season.

My Top 10 NFL Games of 2008

The biggest game for me, personally, is the Patriots/Colts game, of course.  Being only fifty minutes from Indianapolis and proudly wearing a Patriots jersey during every game (and hoping the Colts fall to 0 - 16)...well, it's intense.

Outside of anything New England, I'm waiting for Week 3, myself.  Dallas heads up to Green Bay.  Without Favre, how will the Packers do against the best team from the NFC last year?  Win this time?  Lose?  Will Rodgers do well (as he did when Favre was injured) or fail terrible?

Good list, by the way.  I'm surprised to see the Steelers were on it a few times ;)

My Top 10 NFL Games of 2008

Clovdyx,

I would say the biggest game for me is going to be the Indy/Pittsburgh game.  My husbands a Colts fan and well....I'm of course a Steelers fan.  If I could have one wish would be to get tickets for this game.  I'd make the trip backup to PA for that.

Hard to say how Green Bay is going to do against Dallas.  Sometimes backups work well because there's little game tape for the defenses to study.  I think that was one of the reasons for Andersons (and Garrards) success this season (along with Roethlisberger's success in his rookie year).
