Why I love/hate: New York and Boston

Posted on: January 28, 2008 12:40 pm

Each week I throw a blog out there asking you all to tell CBS Sports why you love or hate someone or something. We don't care for middle grounds in this blog. Middle grounds are for people much more sane than we are.

Since it's Super Bowl week and we've already done Tom Brady, Eli Manning and the Patriots, let's think bigger. Let's think cities. Let's think Boston and and New York. Let's think love and hate.

So share with us why you love or hate Boston or New York and if you have time you can check out previous Love/Hate videos here.

How it works is ... comment back on the blog with something like "I hate New York because a pastrami sandwich requires a down payment and that Babe Ruth guy, yeah, he was overrated." Or "I love Boston because we're like the Force and New York is the Empire and you have to like the Force or else you're a communist."

Something like that. Yours, I trust, will be much, much better. Feel free to take shots at the city, the fans, the sports stars. You name it, its fare game. Just keep the language kosher.

Remember to start your response with I love ... or I hate...

That's all. So spread the love and hate. I look forward to reading your responses and any suggestions for future Love/Hates are always appreciated.

Forum will wrap on Friday.

I love NY because of the PIZZA!   Where else can you get a slice, dripping with oil, made by a hairy-knuckled gibroni for breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

Why I love/hate: New York and Boston

Im from Boston so hating New York is in my DNA, I hate the Yankees, and the Jets, however prior to this super bowl i had no beef with the Giants, and who even has time to look at the bottom of the NBA to find the Knicks.  The Giants and Jets share their stadium and two new york teams dont even play in new york(they play in jersey where the air smells worse).  Makes you kinda feel bad.  But in the end its not the fact that the air smells like garbage, its not the fact that the Bronx in the sh!tt!*st place on the east coast, it boils down to the people.  New Yorkers take Obnoxous to a whole new level, having a thick boston accent this next comment makes me a little hypocritical but i dont care,  New Yorkers can take a simple word like coffee and turn it into something that sounds so terrible it makes my ears bleed.  New York sucks and so does everybody thats from there.

Why I love/hate: New York and Boston

I live out West so I'm not biased based on where I live.  But having visited both several times, Boston doesn't even compare to NY.  Citylife, Nightlife, and Sports are all better in New York.  The Yankees ARE baseball.  26.  Can't compete with that.

Why I love/hate: New York and Boston

Having gone to college in the Boston area, still having many friends from the area, but living and working in New York for a long time-I am highly qualified to comment on this. Boston is a very nice small city-very charming, very quaint.  They are having an unbelievable sports renaissance unlike that of any metropolitan area with virtually all of their franchises. Great for them! Enjoy it while it lasts-it must be some payback for all those years of suffering at the hands of the Yankees etc. Let's also not forget that when Bob Kraft bought the Patriots in the 90's it was considered the NFL franchise with lowest value in the league.  The whole region generally ignored the Pats-they sucked so long. Now of course, they all jump on the bandwagon.  While Boston is a nice, charming regional center-New York is the CAPITAL of the WORLD! That’s right the world. It is the world center of the arts, commerce, finance, and the media. Boston just can't compete on any of those levels. Boston will always be the little brother with the inferiority complex. There is a reason that real estate values are higher in Manhattan on a square foot basis than anywhere else in America-the world wants to be here! (P.S. since the Giuliani days, it is also the safest big city in the world.) In terms of pure obnoxiousness, having been to Fenway, Yankee and Shea Stadiums, the Meadowlands and Gillette-I would say it is a toss-up. Their respective fan bases are both major homers without a lick of objectivity.

Why I love/hate: New York and Boston

being jets fan i have to deal with arrogant patriots fans all the time, and pretty boy brady...but apparently the patriots forgot there are 2 new york teams and came unprepared and knocked girlie man brady on his A** over and over again. so bringing the lombardi trophy back to NEW YORK and robbing the cheating patriots of a there preciors perfect season was a beautiful ending to there miserable city.

As far as baseball being a mets fan i dont have to deal with boston as much, but like in football stay true to new york i hate the yankees with a passion but new england gets what they deserve! look for the mets in the world series well be stealing your trophy you heard it hear first....

Why I love/hate: New York and Boston

It's simple and to the point Boston has no class, the city is a sewer the teams suck, the people are front runners and the best part of Boston is saying your not from there, thank God. The Patriots, and the Red Sox's were nothing 5 years ago and will be nothing by 2010 once AGAIN.

Once again your team showed BOSTON'S  true character on Sunday, when the going gets tough Boston teams choke BIG TIME and WHO beate them none other than a NEW YORK team,THE GIANTS.  Only Boston would have a record of 18-1 and still be a LOSER. The only perfect thing about Boston is they  far from Perfect.    Just think Baseball's coming and so are the YANKEES !!

Now NYC well we have Broadway shows, THE MET, TIMES SQUARE, THE GIANTS, THE METS, THE YANKEES, THE KNICKS, THE RANGERS... but you know what the NUMBER # 1 reason is............In NYC we  are all NEW YORKERS!!

NYC IS THE GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD !!!
