A warning should not be used for personal attacks or "warning wars" with other members. Members who abuse the system risk Member Reputation deductions and Banning. The CBSSports.com Warning System limits the number of Warnings a member can give on a daily basis in the following ways:
A member may challenge a warning by selecting the "Challenge Warning" link. By doing so, the warning and challenge are routed to the CBSSports.com Message Board Moderation team for review. If the warning is legitimate, a challenge is denied and the warning's impacts are sustained. If the challenge is upheld, the person submitting the warning is given a Reputation deduction and may be Banned.
Legitimate reasons for warning another member include the use of offensive or obscene language, links to offensive or obscene images, personal attacks, racist characterizations, ethnic slurs, sexist commentary, pornographic content or commercial advertising. For a more detailed accounting of acceptable and unacceptable behavior, please review the Acceptable Use Policy. CBSSports.com will review all such submissions and may levy Reputation deductions or Ban a member for violations. Bad logic, ignorance and selective memory are all prevalent on Message Boards. None of these are valid reasons to warn another member. If a message is poorly written or poorly thought out, use the Rating System to assign an appropriate value to the post. Please note that such posts do not warrant warning another member. The CBSSports.com Warning System limits a member's Reputation levels in the following ways:
Members who have given 2 overturned warnings will get an automatic warning for giving out those unwarranted warnings. After given out 5 unwarranted warnings, members will have their warning privileges revoked for a period of 90 days. Once the 90 day period has expired warning privileges will be reinstated. As you can see, the system is meant to provide a tool for the community to monitor itself. The goal is to create an environment where fans of various tastes and backgrounds can feel comfortable reading and submitting. Thanks for contributing to the CBSSports.com community! |
