The North Carolina Tar Heels are the Vegas favorite to win the 2017 NCAA Tournament at 5/4, a little over even money.
They were one of the five pre-tournament favorites to take the whole thing down and now, armed with 20 Final Four appearances, UNC looks poised to cut down the nets in Phoenix.
"They have the most talent of any team left in the field, but I'd pass on this price and take a wait-and-see approach," SportsLine analyst Josh Nagel said of the 5/4 odds. "If North Carolina survives Saturday, I'd be tempted to play the spread Monday against either potential title-game opponent."
THE PUBLIC IS BACKING THE WRONG TEAM TO WIN THE TOURNAMENT
SportsLine ran the 2017 Final Four 10,000 times and North Carolina won the title 30 percent of the time, the second-highest total of any of the remaining teams. We project the Tar Heels to beat Oregon in the national semifinals 57 percent of the time.
North Carolina was the top seed in the South Region and defeated Kentucky in an epic Elite Eight game in which a former walk-on, Luke Maye, hit the game-winner with 0.3 seconds remaining.
The Tar Heels nearly beat Texas Southern by 40 in the opening round before outlasting Arkansas by seven in the round of 32. UNC clocked Butler by a dozen in the Sweet 16 before its classic 75-73 win over Kentucky.
UNC is a 4.5-point favorite over Oregon in the 2017 Final Four and has received plenty of early love from bettors.
"The sharps haven't been overly in love with the Ducks throughout the tournament, and it's unlikely they?ll get behind them here at this number, which could climb," said Scott Cooley, odds consultant for BookMaker.eu.
North Carolina was holding as a five-point favorite over Oregon. The Over-Under stood at 151.5, up 1.5 points from open. Oregon is a solid 22-15 against the spread this season and the line could drop as tip-off approaches on Saturday night at the 2017 Final Four in Phoenix.
