Mark Calcavecchia
Calc only made the cut this week by two shots, but zoomed up the leaderboard Saturday with a round that threatened to begin with a "fifty". The veteran had 10 birdies and one bogey in his round of 62 that moved him into the third-round clubhouse lead. After averaging 1.933 putts per green hit in regulation on Thursday, Calc has put up numbers of 1.444 and 1.356 the past two days. Another putting performance like that again on Sunday could be enough to give him a 13th PGA TOUR victory.

Brian Gay
Gay put himself into serious contention to pick up his first PGA Tour win with a solid 66 on Saturday. Gay, who finished in a tie for ninth in this event last season, leads the field in driving accuracy with an 84.62 percent success rate. That's more than 20 percent better than his 63.71 percent success rate on the season. What bodes well for the former Gator is that his final-round scoring average of 70.27 in 2006 was the 15th-best on Tour.

Zach Johnson
Johnson is only four shots behind the leaders heading into Sunday after a third-round 66 on the Copperhead Course. Johnson, who has yet to produce a top-25 finish in four 2007 starts on Tour, is seeking is first top-10 finish since his runner-up effort at the 2006 Memorial. His putting has been steady this week in Tampa, but will need to hole a few more on Sunday to give himself a chance at the title.

Stephen Leaney
Note to Mr. Leaney: one birdie and two bogeys in your third round after leading at the halfway point makes you an automatic faker, sorry. Leaney was in superb position to pick up his maiden PGA Tour title after 36 holes, but will now need something special on Sunday. Oddly enough, his driving and GIR stats were greatly improved on Saturday from his first two rounds but after two superb putting days, the flat stick let him down as he averaged 1.933 putts per green in regulation. |

Daniel Chopra
Last week at the Honda Classic it was a final-round 71 that was his issue. This week, it will be Saturday's 2-over 73. Chopra, who had four top-10 finishes in his last 15 events before this stop in Tampa, has only hit 57.4 percent of his greens in regulation this week and it finally caught up with him on Saturday. Four bogeys versus only two birdies saw him slip from a tie for third to a tie for 26th. |

Doug LaBelle II
Like Chopra, rookie LaBelle was in a tie for third after 36 holes and in with a great chance of winning for the first time on Tour. Unfortunately, LaBelle, who has made the cut in five of his six starts this season, will be a bit nauseous after his roller coaster third round on Saturday. He had seven bogeys, four birdies and seven pars in a round of 74 that leaves him eight shots adrift. |
