Golden Eagles report: Inside slant
Southern Miss doesn't have recent history or past history on its side this Saturday when No. 15 Boise State (4-0) visits Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles (2-3) have lost two straight games this season and are 1-7 all-time at home against ranked opponents. Head coach Larry Fedora said his players aren't ready to throw in the towel. "As far as a lack of confidence, that won't be there," he said. "This is not my first rodeo. Maybe as a head football coach, not as a football coach. I've been in this situation before, and I know what's going to be good and what's not. It's frustrating, but lack of confidence is not something I really worry about." He is concerned about the unbeaten Broncos, however. "They give you a lot of problems on offense because they are shifting, in motion and moving on every single play. I don't know if they've run the same formation once in their first four games," Fedora said. "Defensively, they're a very sound football team. They are where they are supposed to be, they make plays and they make tackles. They're where we are trying to get in the future." Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange.
