Orange report: Notes, quotes
--Mitch Browning and former Orange standout Dan Conley joined Robinson's staff. Browning will serve as the offensive coordinator and coach the tight ends and tackles, while Conley will mentor the linebackers. In addition, Robinson named Orange defensive line coach Derrick Jackson co-defensive coordinator. Robinson will serve as co-defensive coordinator with Jackson. --Highly regarded true freshman tailback Averin Collier underwent an MRI on March 29 that revealed a small stress fracture in his left foot. He was fitted with a protective boot and missed the remainder of spring practices. He is expected to be healthy by the fall. SPRING MOVERS WR Lavar Lobdell -- Lobdell arrived on campus from Christian Brothers Academy nearly four seasons ago with all the hype appropriate for a player wooed by the likes of USC and Miami. Yet, so far his career has produced only 13 receptions for 154 yards. Receivers coach Chris White thinks that is about to change. In the spring game, Lobdell caught two passes for 26 yards, the only receiver to catch more than one pass. QB Cameron Dantley -- During the spring game, Dantley threw a perfect 50-yard TD pass to Mike Williams on a deep post, leaving cornerback Matt Reid and safety A.J. Brown with a long jog back to the defensive huddle. Dantley made similar passes all spring. RB Doug Hogue -- The Syracuse backfield is crowded again but Hogue, the player who ended the season as the Orange's starter, just might start the 2008 season in the same spot.
