--Pitt's legendary running back Tony Dorsett presented LeSean McCoy, the Panthers' star running back as a freshman, with a commemorative football in special ceremony honoring McCoy surpassing Dorsett's freshman records for points and rushing TDs. McCoy had 90 points and 14 rushing TDs to break Dorsett's 34-year-old marks (78 and 13).

When asked to compare McCoy to himself, Dorsett repied: "Greatness is greatness."

--QB Bill Stull won the starting job last year but suffered a season-ending thumb injury and faced stiff completion this spring. While coach Dave Wannstedt did not commit to him as the starter, he labeled him "the frontrunner" after Stull had a big Blue-Gold game. He completed his first five passes to five different receivers and finished 7-for-10 for 56 yards in limited work. Pat Bostick and juco transfer Greg Cross are in the mix.

SPRING MOVERS

DT Mick Williams -- He was virtually unblockable throughout the spring and emerged out of spring practice as the leader of an interior defensive front that Pitt expects to be its best in recent memory.

TE Dorin Dickerson -- He made a highly successful transition to tight end after having played linebacker last year. Dickerson drew comparisons to Kris Wilson, an All-Big East tight end in 2003 who has played the last four years in the NFL.

WR Cedric McGee -- While wide receiver is one of the deepest position on the Pitt team, McGee stood out and solidified himself in the rotation. He proved himself to being a significantly improve pass-catching threat while also showing himself to be a rugged blocker in the running game.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"This is a special young man. I watched him play, and I have to say that since leaving the university, we have had a lot of backs that have come here and people have said, 'This kid reminds me of Tony Dorsett.' ... But, this is the first guy who I have seen that reminds me of Tony Dorsett." -- Pitt Hall of Fame RB Tony Dorsett on RB LeSean McCoy.

I have been on Rivals.com and Scout.com over the past few weeks, but I don't really see much information regarding possible 2009 recruits. Does anyone have information out there?

I feel like we should have one or two recruits in the bag and a few more we are looking at (or reporting on) heavily, but I can't seem to find any worthwhile information.

i read earlier today (i believe it was rivals) that shady mccoy would be a top 5 pro prospect if he decided to enter the 2009 nfl draft.  what are your thoughts on this as he would be only a sophmore but 3 years removed from high school just like larry fitzgerald. i love seeing PITT get top talent but i was devasted when the greatest college receiver of all time decided to turn pro. shad ...(more)

Whats up Panther fans. I need about 20 people to sign up for this game. It is called GoallineBlitz. The objective of the game is to create your own football player and get signed by human team owners to compete to win a title. It takes a while to figure out how everything works in the game, but once you get the hang of it im sure you will have fun. If you sign up and keep involved ...(more)

Until you go for a year without disciplinary problems, don't be bashing us (Penn State) about ours. If you want to play the dumb blonde, as in what did we do... Read this...

How do you all think he will do in the NFL? He didn't have a standout career at Pitt, but he definitely did a very nice job. He is big enough that he can take the NFL game, but he is still raw. Overall I think he will do well, but will he live up to the hype?

I'm also very interested to see where he goes...many have him as the #3 tackle behind Long and Clady, but CBS actually ha ...(more)

I hope the Pitt program doesn't get destroyed by that idiot Pederson like Nebraska's was. Some advice for the Pitt fans- if Pederson starts creating a bunch of stupid ideas hold on your program about to be destroyed, so fight back don't let him do it.

Adversity has strengthened Upper St. Clair native Cafaro
By Kevin Gorman
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Danny Cafaro knows the anniversary dates by heart. Not the type to celebrate, but mark survival. And Cafaro is nothing if not a survivor.
There is Jan. 15, 2006, when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. There is May 15 ...(more)

Lets all give Rich Rodriguez a moment of silence at the podium..........

HAHAHA

This thread is solely for the purpose of looking back at the 100th backyard brawl, where Pitt literally OWNED (2) West Virgina (-28.5). I still have the shakes from that game. When they won it felt like i just had an overdose on heroin!

Also congratulations to the bastard who bet on west vir ...(more)
