Oregon State was hit and hit hard by graduation losses, but young guys who got a chance to play and the return of two "old" stars on offense has Mike Riley optimistic about the 2008 season.

Riley knew he would be getting guard Jeremy Perry back from a broken leg that knocked him out for the season in the first game last year. The coach didn't know he'd be getting wide receiver/punt returner Sammie Stroughter back until word came in mid-March. Stroughter had been give a medical redshirt after playing in three of the first four games last season before going down for the year with a kidney injury.

"The entire team is excited to have Sammie back," Riley said of Stroughter, who missed last year's opener because of a personal grief situation, played in three games and then got hurt.

Stroughter has to help. So does Perry.

The Beavers have made charges to the finish line each of the last two seasons and this year face a schedule that calls for games with eight bowl teams from last year. The second game of the season is at Penn State.

I was reading this article on rivals.  Milestone performances during the BCS era.  They show how many 1,000 yard rushers, how many 3,000 yard passers and how many 1,000 yard receivers.  Hawaii had the most with 0 / 9 / 13.  Oregon state and Texas Tech both tied with 18.  Texas Tech 1 / 8 / 9.  Oregon State was very well balanced with 8 / 5 / 5.

Penn State's plethora of solid WRs is no secret.  The talent and power of OS's DBs however, might just be.

Assuming Al Afalava is able to play, the Beaver's secondary will be top notch in '08.  The Beavers D has won games in the trenches for the past few seasons, but a big play one way or the other coming from the PSU pass game may be the deciding f ...(more)

The Beavers have traveled to Hawaii 7 times, winning 4 of the games.  Corvallis will welcome the Warriors (formerly Rainbows) for the first time.  I was at Aloha stadium in 2006 when the Beavers won 35-32.  I will be in Corvallis on September 13th for the 2008 of Beavers and Warriors.

UH lost its top 4 receivers and of course, Colt Brennan.  Not to mention, June ...(more)

What is your run defense like?  Because, with our new QB, we're gonna option alot and run with our star RB Evan Royster.

Well today is the spring game. Hopefully some of you guys get to check it out. Its not too easy to get ahold of down here in Texas so Im counting on you guys up there!

Biggest Questions for me about the spring game:

How do the QB's look? How is Katz coming along? Does he look like a fish out of water or a possible candidate to start?

How do the RB' s look? ...(more)

GoBEAVS13 brought this up in the DRAFT thread.

I cannot believe no one has taken a flyer on Doggs.  We all know what a stud he was at OS.  His speed, instincs, ball-skills and toughness should at least get him a shot in someone's mini-camp.

I will be very disappointed if he doesn't catch on somewhere.

Okay beaver fans how do you rate our chances against Penn State.  Penn State went 9-4 like we did but they are not losing a lot of Sr's this year.  The are losing their starting quarterback, their #1,#3, & #5 rushers, and they are losing their top linebacker.  Their #2 rusher was a freshman.  Their top LB was1st in tackles and 2nd in sacks at Penn State last year.  The ...(more)
