Tigers report: Inside slant
As the game has started to get smaller for Memphis quarterback Arkelon Hall, the field and the playbook are expanding. "He is making much better decisions. He's getting rid of it when it's time to get rid of it and has made some tough throws," head coach Tommy West said. "We're using more of the field. We're throwing the ball in the middle of the field some. Through the years, it depends on our quarterback as to whether I do that." Hall, a junior-college transfer playing his first season with the Tigers, has completed at least 60 percent of his passes in the last two games and has seven touchdown passes, two touchdown runs and three interceptions in his last four games. "I'm not afraid of using the middle of the field because this guy is pretty good at getting it in there," West said. "We have made some big first downs on crossing routes coming across down the field." Hall and the Tigers (3-4, 1-2 C-USA) face a tough challenge Saturday at East Carolina (3-3, 1-1). The Pirates are No. 4 in the conference in total defense and have picked off eight passes so far this season. Copyright (C) 2008 The Sports Xchange. All Rights Reserved. | ||||||||||||
