Props to Western Kentucky QB Davis Shanley for popping off the bench and playing decently against Louisville last Saturday. Starting a game is a different animal, and the true freshman gets the call in lieu of veteran Drew Eckels (upper body) here. Shanley wasn’t even the second-stringer a week ago. The Hilltoppers have dropped five in a row straight-up. Ball State nearly beat Notre Dame two weeks back and, while a severe loss to Indiana followed, the Cardinals will relish the step down in competition.
