Seemingly, the value here lies on Louisville’s perceived poor performances in close victories over Purdue and North Carolina. Look for the Cardinals to show their team growth as a whole, as they tone down the pressure off of Lamar Jackson’s shoulders.
Last season, Lamar Jackson and Louisville went into Clemson as 1-point favorites and lost 42-36. This time around, they're getting points at home and Jackson is absolutely on fire with a couple 375-plus yard passing games and a couple 100-yard rushing games. This is Louisville's first home game and also Clemson's first road game and a big test for new QB Kelly Bryant. This is the angle I like, so I'm on Louisville.
Last year, when Clemson was 6-7 points better than this year's edition, Louisville gave the Tigers a battle in Death Valley. This year, Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson gets Clemson at home with a better offensive line and better defense to support him. Jackson and friends pull the mild upset Saturday.
This was an instant classic last season that came down to the wire. If you remember, the problem last season for the Cards was their offensive line. That looks to be fixed, but their defense is still going to give up a lot of points. That said, Louisville has the best player in college football. Lamar Jackson and the Cards get a signature win.
