JOHN McENROE
(Analyst) In his tenth year as analyst for CBS Sports' U.S. Open coverage, McEnroe was the world's No. 1 player from 1981-84. He captured 77 singles titles during professional career and won four U.S. Open championships and three Wimbledon titles. He inducted into International Tennis Hall of Fame in July 1999 and served as 2000 U.S. Davis Cup captain, leading United States to semifinals. He compiled an 82-3 singles record in 1984, including wins at Wimbledon and U.S. Open and was one of the foremost doubles players in tennis annals with 75 titles. McEnroe won doubles title five times at Wimbledon and four times at U.S. Open. He won the mixed doubles title with Mary Carillo at 1977 French Open. He played on five Davis Cup championship teams (1978, 1979, 1981, 1982 and 1992) and is calling 12th U.S. Open for USA Network. He also serves as analyst for USA's coverage of French Open and NBC Sports' tennis broadcasts of French Open and Wimbledon. Host of "McEnore" on CNBC which premiered in July 2004, he is currently involved with Safe Passage Foundation, an organization founded by late Arthur Ashe, which provides tennis instruction and educational counseling to 6,000 inner-city youths…autobiography, You Cannot Be Serious was published in 2002. He was born in Wiesbaden, Germany on Feb. 16, 1959 and lives in New York City and Malibu, Calif. |
