CBS SPORTS TO BROADCAST PGA TOUR’S INAUGURAL “AT&T NATIONAL” AT CONGRESSIONAL COUNTRY CLUB JULY 7-8
Tiger Woods Hosts and Competes in Event Featuring Mickelson, Furyk, Scott and Singh
Tiger Woods hosts his first official PGA TOUR event this week, the inaugural AT&T NATIONAL. He is also competing in the tournament after taking time off since the birth of his daughter on June 18. CBS Sports broadcasts third- and final-round coverage of the AT&T National from the famed Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., on Saturday, July 7 (3:00-6:00 PM, ET) and Sunday, July 8 (3:00-6:30 PM, ET), live on the CBS Television Network.
Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo, CBS Sports’ golf anchor and lead analyst, respectively, provide commentary from the 18th hole tower. Peter Oosterhuis calls the action at the 17th hole, Gary McCord at the 16th and Ian Baker-Finch at the 15th. David Feherty and Peter Kostis serve as on-course reporters.
The first-ever AT&T National includes an impressive field of the world’s top-ranked players: Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Adam Scott, Vijay Singh, Geoff Ogilvy, Justin Rose, K.J. Choi, Steve Stricker, Nick O’Hern, Charles Howell III, Scott Verplank, Aaron Baddeley, Stuart Appleby, Robert Allenby, Rod Pampling, Davis Love III, Arron Oberholser, Justin Leonard, Chad Campbell, Jesper Parnevik, Brett Wetterich, Tom Pernice, Jr., Shigeki Maruyama, Chris DiMarco, Lucas Glover, Mike Weir, Brad Faxon, Sean O’Hair, J.B. Holmes, Tim Herron and former University of Maryland coach Fred Funk. Funk, a gallery favorite, played his first ever PGA TOUR event at Congressional in 1982.
Woods has 57 career PGA TOUR victories heading into the AT&T National, including three this season. He leads the FedEx Cup standings with 19,524 points, 3,706 ahead of Mickelson.
The AT&T National will benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation and pay tribute to the men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces. Wounded soldiers from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., will be acknowledged by tournament officials this week.
